I'm all for recycling. But the flip side is that if I have to drive my vehicle to take it to the recycler, didn't I just nullify the action by adding more greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere? Not a complaint, just another obstacle to overcome here in Mustang.

It's been three years since we moved away but, at that time, there were areas of OKC that didn't have recycle pickup, even though they had the regular weekly trash service. We lived in far SE OKC where the houses were all on 2-5 acres, making them too sparse to make the recycle pickup cost-efficient. I looked at the website today and didn't find any kind of map for coverage area. We were very close to Midwest City so we took our things to their recycle center near 15th and Douglas.
We're in western Washington now and you talk about GREEN . Can you say over-kill?? In King County, where Seattle is, you can be fined for putting recyclables in the regular trash. We do our bit, with grocery sacks for mixed containers, mixed paper and newspapers. We also recycle cardboard and scrap metal. Every couple of weeks we load it up and take it to one of the centers.
We bought some shopping bags at Wal-Mart but for the local grocery stores, I still re-use the paper sacks - they give a nickle refund whenever you use one. Albertson's in OKC used to do that but since they're gone, I don't know if anyone else does.
In CA. grocery stores charge .10 for each grocery bag, unless you use you own.

good point.

I've take aluminum to recyclers, but most of the time it cost more to drive there than the refund.

What's this recycle stuff all about?

We save jars and put stuff in them, we grow food. What we don't eat the goats, pigs and chickens get. We have a full set of QuikTrip glasses.......we generally burn paper and use a lot of wood to heat in the winter. Grass clippings are mulched........

When we cleaned up some of the land a few years ago we had several car bodies and scrap steel hauled to the crusher........

GP, you are the ultimate recycler, simply by your lifestyle. Good for you.

I made this in CA, during an Election for some County Officials.
It was an Iron on T shirt patch

Did you see on Channel 9, that the recycling people that take our recyclables from the curbside are not getting any money for it so they are taking them to the dump or just storing it? I think it was the Warr Acres recycle people. I am not sure about the rest of the city. If you have heard anything about this please let us know. I reuse everything I can, but I do have some recyclables.

What are you looking to recycle (aluminum, paper, plastic)?

I refuse to recycle. I throw everything in the dumpster. Feel free to dig through it and recycle for me though.

I want to know how they know you are not recycling in those communist states that fine for not recycling, do they dig around in people garbage to see if they are recycling?
