Oh, I'll be rooting for the team and think that the "OkC" name is the best. It simply sounds better.

My only beef with the name thing was that the Mayor should have let the owner announce the name after a respectful delay of perhaps a day or so and not jumped on it so quickly. It just would have shown more class. But I suppose if you or I had worked as hard as him to get the team there we might've done the same thing. Either way, it's water under the bridge to me; I'll support the team big time.

I sure wish they'd announce the name and new logo soon!

What would be neat is if they'd play one or two games a year at the BOK; kind of the way the Packers play in Milwaukee ever so often. Since the NBA plays so many more games than the NFL, 2 or even 3 games a year at the BOK wouldn't be taking much away from ticket sales in OkC. And I think the biggest factor would be to bring the two cities together and shore up an even bigger fan base.

It's been so long since the announcement that the team was coming to OKC, it's almost embarrassing that they still don't have an "official" name.

That statement is ridiculous. If they were called Indians, it would tick off the liberals. If they were called the Angels, it would tick off the Atheists. If it was named after any bird, it would tick off Dogs.

In short, all of this this name or that name will tick off whomever is asinine. The "energy crisis" (as you worded it) will subside. They always do. 50 years from now, very few people living today will remember all of the comments about the name. If you want to avoid certain names, then nearly every team name in every league would need to be changed.

Get real, people.

Maybe we can call them the Hallways and they'd win games by p*ssing and moaning the other team into defeat.

Yeah, I think after this year they will play at least a couple of regular season games in Tulsa and also a couple of pre-season games. I am actually thinking the team should be called the Oklahoma United or Pride. We all pick from the same tomato vine! On that note...Hows everyones tomatos doing this year? I know its been pretty hot. I have had some weird ones develop! Deformed and stuff. Really strange!

Colleen- The name of the team will be revealed in the next week. I dont know why they have taken so long! Anyway...They are so silly. Everyone knows it will be called the thunder.

Hallway- Take a chill pill. Many have noted that calling the team the Barons would cause trouble. This is the NBA, which is international and Stern likes to keep away from the drama. Remember the team was bought by oil barons (to make it even worse). To give you an example, the Washington Wizards were formerly the Bullets!

"The Wizards moved to the MCI Center (now named Verizon Center) in 1997.In 1995, owner Abe Pollin announced that the franchise was to be renamed because Bullets carried violent overtones, which he wanted to repudiate,[1] especially since Washington was experiencing some of the highest homicide rates in the country at the time".

This is a list of every major league franchise in the "big four." Yes, some of the reasons I stated sound far fetched, however, think about what comments I made. I am trying to prove a point. The point that nearly every name can be offensive to someone or some group of people. (sorry about the "center, center" etc)

Major League Baseball

Baltimore Orioles-A bird. This might tick off the people that don’t like birds
