Hallway- Thanks for taking all the effort to prove your point , but it only lets me realize that the name Thunder actually sounds better than many of the names in all of pro sports. Heat? Majic? Wizards? Raptors? Jazz? Ducks? Texans? Wild? Leafs? Avalanche? Hurricanes? Thrashers? Nuggets? Dolfins? Ravens? Lightning? Flames? Rays? etc....All cheesy, but were accepted after a few years. Even many of the older franchises sound awkward...Cardinals? Cubs? Browns? White socks/Red socks?
The only reason people in our area think that Thunder sounds minor league is because of the Wichita Thunder (minor league hockey). Many people have come to like the name, because it sounds powerful and really defines Oklahoma/OKC. Thunder is sounding better and better, especially after the recent OU game. I actually live here and can testify about the power of that storm. It certainly made me think that Thunder isnt half bad.
Bottom line is that OKC has a NBA team and its a huge accomplishment that many cities can only dream of.

The Trenton Thunder (New Jersey) is the minor league for the New York Yankees. It was difficult getting used to that name, but once we did, it rolled off the tongue very easily.

Thunder isn't too bad, and could turn out to be quite good. What is the logo going to look like for thunder though? A huge cloud? A lightning bolt?

I have no clue, but we find out today at 5pm. It cracks me up to see the count down on the digital billboards..."Barons say bye bye" "The outlaws have been shot down" etc. I am waiting until it says "OKC breaks Wind"! lol
I was going for the Barons, Thunderbirds (T-Birds), Aviators, Outlaws or my personal fav OKC 89ers!

It's kind of strange that they will be playing in the Northwest division. I wonder how long before things are realigned.

I like the logo because they made a point to use OKC instead of Oklahoma City (It follows other cities that have the state name attached to 'city' like the KC Chiefs). The colors are also good. The font for THUNDER- Sucks big time.
Oh well, many other designs will come out. The staff at the team store even said that they plan on more logos and fonts to appear soon. I think PBC is a little more worried about a winning team then the logo.
Synopsis- I bet after a few years they will change divisions.

That was my first thought when I saw the logo! It's too weak looking and doesn't stick out at all. Hopefully that will change in time.
