Best Builder?
My husband, daughter, and I may be relocating from Boston to OKC. We are focusing on Edmond to live. We spent last weekend looking at several communities/homes in the area. I've found great information on this site about schools and neighborhoods, but I can't find anything about home builders. Can anybody give me feedback -positive or negative- about any of the builders in the area (Ideal, BrassBrick, Jeff Click, DR Horton, etc). Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Edmond! Here's my opinion on the builders & what other people of told me.... Ideal Homes is not the best, in that they homes are "cheaply" done, BrassBrick is alright, Jeff Click usually does more modern stuff to his homes & it usually pretty good, DR Horton is okay & a national builder. It really just depends on your taste & style of home. Each of those builders have their own style & floorplans. Most of those builders only build in certain neighborhoods. There are other builders out there that I think are really good, but they only build in their areas. I would pick your neighborhood/area of where you want to live & then see if that builder builds out there. Each neighborhood has different builders in them & each builder has different prices in accordance to what area they build in.
I hope I didn't confuse you.

D R Horton is one builder I will not use. I have seen some of their homes and they look cheap.
We are about to build a new house and have already selected Brass Brick. The homes have a lot for the price. In fact, if we chose most builders, we would be forking over $400,000 instead of the $300,000 we are paying.
Here's some advise. Even Brass Brick uses brads in the cabinet drawers. I had to pay several hundred extra to get what I know will last decades... Dovetails. In fact, I will be on the construction site every day inspecting the progress. One thing out of place, and I don't accept it. In fact, that's in the contract.

Thanks for the information! My husband and I know very little about construction, so we need to find a quality builder. The construction of the house is our first priority, and neighborhood and location are secondary.
