Wow...everyone sure is passionate about their city/state here. Quite the opposite of living in Memphis. I actually don't know one person who lives here who doesn't hate it. Sad but true. Must be a self-fulfilling prophecy!

I would be curious to find out how she got to Oklahoma.....we all have stories....like I am now in Memphis, TN!!!

Ok, Mom2My3, a little info for you. I was born in New Jersey, but spent years living in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, California and Georgia. We have recently moved to Oklahoma from NJ which has been home base for the last 22 years, except for a short (2 years) stint in Colorado. Because of the places I've lived, I spent a lot of time living among, and interacting with, NAs. Also, I took several NA courses in college, and I count among my close friends here in OK a really funny, caring, loyal NA.
I won't go into my tirade on the treatment of NAs over time, but suffice to say, I count myself in their camp. That being said, I would hope you plan to come home to OK sometime soon. It doesn't seem like Memphis is the place to be, and we ALL know that Oklahoma definitely is!
(okay, LR, was I good?)

Yes, you will find many happy people here. But we do sometimes get tangled up.

Yeah, we get a little carried away sometimes. But Oklahoma really isn't for everyone, and you will either love it or hate it. Luckily most of the people who truly hate it don't last long, and go running back to wherever they came from.

Ever wonder why there is a great song called "Livin' on Tulsa Time" and not on Little Rock time or Memphis time, or Joplin time?

Wanted you to have more information in light of things.

And since none of those folk are offended, maybe the only folk I'm insulting and offending are those who moved away and lost their sense of humor on the road some where betwen here and there.
It's actually MY profile. "Their" indicates more than one person, and since I am not schizophrenic, suffer from multiple personalities (not even sure I have ONE) or twins, your use is improper.
So when does the State of Sequoyah get formed? Or do we have to keep on living with those grandkids of immigrants that put a plow on our buffalo range?
Actually I don't. I think the Native Americans in Oklahoma have been very good to Oklahoma.....we provided a diversity that most other states don't enjoy. If it weren't for the NA's here, (except for a straying Kiowa or two) we would be just like Kansas..........THEN who would give Texas a thumping at the Cotton Bowl?
Ok, Colleen, don't make her out to be a racist or somthing......she is perfectly capable of doing that herself............

Thank you for sharing so much about yourself. Oddly enough, I do agree with a lot you said. Native Americans are the biggest part of Oklahoma history. That is why the state does so much for them. Yes, NA's provide a great diversity for the state and are productive citizens. This was why I was questioning your behavior in your posts - seeing you were from the Pawnee Nation. I am still looking for my great grandmother's Native American roots. Her family is on a roll somewhere and we cannot find it. That is part of my genealogy I am wanting to discover. How could I be a racist if that is part of my own story. My problem is people not appreciating it enough. I am bothered by people who do not appreciate where they come from. I obviously do not share your type of humor. I am new to this forum and did not appreciate the posts you had left for someone wanting some real answers and help. I'm sure they have been amazed by all of this.
The most important thing I would like for you to know is that I am not a racist. I grew up in a college town on Oklahoma. There were people of great diversity in my community. I went to school with people of all nationalities. Some of my dearest friends have been ( and still are) Persian, Native American, and African American. I also happen to have a Chinese niece. I live among a majority of African Americans now and it is sad. I have never felt racism or experienced it until I moved to Memphis. It is an incredible thing to witness....on both sides.
I hope you and Colleen have learned something about me now. It is very difficult to understand people and know their intentions by reading posts or emails. I am not the person you have made me out to be online.....mainly Colleen.
I wish you the best and hope you continue to enlighten people in your own way....just know there may be people who will not see your comments as humor. You will have to gently explain to them. You should not have any problems considering you have many cheerleaders out there.

I bet you are a sweetheart in person. I'd be willing to bet you have a sense of humor, even. But it sounds to me like you are letting your current environment affect your outlook on life.
It might be a good idea to take some time off, hang out at the Perkins Piggly Wiggly and watch real people when they help each other load groceries, smile at strangers, hold doors open for each other.......and watch people simply enjoy life. Bring a little perspective back to yours.
You do know that if you live with nothing but unhappy people you will end up unhappy? You might start looking for a job in a nicer part of the country......for your own sanity and health.
