Default Why are Oklahoma cities so conservative?

Coming to TX I am surprised how modern, liberal, and diverse/gay-friendly TX big cities are, voting democratic etc. Why aren't Oklahoma cities like this, even OKC and Tulsa? OK is just to the north you'd think they would be similar politically/culturally. I guess it's like CA vs. Arizona. But still, like McCain has 40% lead in OK, in TX it's only like 5%.

Why aren't New York City and Hoboken, NJ the same? Why aren't Atlanta and Austell, GA the same? Reno and Gardnerville, NV? Omaha and North Platte, Nebraska?

It boggles the mind why anyone would assume one city should be like another one because they exist in the same area of the country. No offense to Texas (hear me, Syn?), but I like OK just the way it is.

Next question. . . . .
