Default Info needed please

Hello everyone. After some job offers my boyfriend and I have decided to go for Oklahoma city instead of Grand Junction, CO.

It just seems that the cost of living is lower, climate is better, closer to a big city.

Though we have never been to OK before and we would like some advice from natives like yourselves.

What is Oklahoma city and the surrounding area like to live in? My boyfriend will be earning $80k. I hope there are nursing jobs there too for myself.

Is the city pretty safe, walkable and have a great nightlife scene? Also is the weather there pretty severe with tornados?

Thank you for your help.

When you say nursing, are you referring to LPN or RN or? There is a shortage of Nursing in OK. And the opportunities, especially in OKC look good. Like I said in another thread, they are even offering $5K sign on bonuses in some hospitals.

As for your husband's 80K salary, that would make him a Jed Clampett in these parts. Ok, maybe not Jed, but he is definitely standing in tall cotton.

To get a glimpse of the area, go to one of the pic threads on either OKC or OK. There have been quite a few pics posted. Good luck and WELCOME to Oklahoma.

Oh yeah; We have severe thunderstorms and occasionally they rotate. Which causes a tornado in the vicinity. Not many basements in the city because were in the red clay. But you can get a storm cellar or a safe room to go in.
