I saw that article. I am very curious to know why OKC has the lowest unemployment rate for a large metro area in the country? What's going on there? How do you think the job prospects are there for an entry level college graduate coming out in May with a MS in Accounting degree (from a program ranked #5 in the nation)?
Just curious, phishing for information.

Is it primarily due to the energy industry?

Yes, Devon and the other energy company in the area are employers well-known for their lack of layoffs.
Here are some accounting manager positions in OkC. I'm sure these aren't AP/bookeeping positions.

These jobs pay upward of 70K+ per year, which one could live on quite well in OkC. However, most would require at least a couple of years experience. Perhaps one or two wouldn't. It's worth a try looking at them though.
This one doesn't appear to be asking for experience, just a degree in an accounting related field.

Im a corporate accountant, and I dont see anything I do, provided the right technology, that I couldnt do at my house. I imagine most non management desk jobs are exactly the same. Set the computer up to access central files, set the phones up to forward to a home phone, and there you go. Actually, I get so few calls from non internal sources (that could just as easily use email), I could actually come in a day or two a week for an hour, and take care of all the calls I may have received. This literally can go far outside of the tech sector. The tech sector is just the most likely to adapt to it, and therefore are moving the quickest to telecommuting.
The Best Buy corporate offices have actually moved to this with a majority of their staff, and productivity has actually went up as well as morale. Imagine that. I read some where that office workers spend up to 35% of their time goofing around. Isnt this enough of a figure to antiquate the concept of the 40 hour in office work week for desk workers? Why keep people in the office trying to stretch the work out, when you can pay them per project or a salary, and let them go on their way.

Where else are you going to go so you can have 2 hour lunches, wear silk ties, hit on secretaries, and get paper and pencils for the kids classroom? You do know, of course, that hitting on your spouse in the kitchen is no where near as much fun as hitting on your co-worker in the next office........and if you don't have a commute, where are you going to get to read your newspaper? Where are you going to get a football pool going? Do you really think you can leave your home office, go to a bar, and complain about the environment at work while drinking your paycheck? As Steven Colbert says, "Why do you hate America?"

The Best Buy model has indeed proven to be successful. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
