You don't have to be Christian to be moral.

You don't have to be any kind of religion at all to be moral.

And judging from the actions of some of the evangelists, priests and pastors in recent years, you don't have to be moral to be Christian.............

Yeah, you do. But, you don't have to be perfect to be a Christian. Neither do you have to be a Christian to say you are a Christian.

Interesting reading this. I moved to OKC from England, via Louisiana, about 6 months. I just can't get on here. I'm trying to get out there and meet people but there's something not quite right in this city. It's like a small, small town dressed up as a big city.

What do you mean by "can't get on" here?

I'm just struggling to settle in. Struggling to meet people, find places to socialize, find places to shop and eat, that sort of thing.

Default Hey!

My fiancé and I are atheist too! We like to stay around the OKC area, the Paseo district is really great for avoiding religious judgment and Norman is as well. The Sam Noble Natural History Museum always holds great lectures where you can meet other like-minded people. We are also part of the Oklahoma Atheists and a naturalism group in Norman, the OA group meets at Galileo's once a month in the Paseo just to eat and chat. We all need to escape the Bible Belt sometimes! Hope this helps and don't let the ignorance get to you.

Hopefully, you will find a friend to show you around to places to eat and shop. However, it appears this is yet another post lamenting the socializing aspect of relocating.

The same problem appears in every state forum. Right now, there are transplants in every state forum complaining they are having trouble making friends, real friends in their new state. At least here in OK, people are friendly. From what I have read on the Conn. forum, they are not as friendly on the east coast.

I think someone here suggested in another thread to pick up a copy of the Weekly to give you ideas on where to go for entertainment, shopping, eats, etc.

As far as being a small town dressed up as a city, I have to disagree. Oklahoma's small towns are nothing like OKC, and thank God for that. Although even Gary England refers to OKC as "the Big Town".

zookers, the link you provided didn't work. Try this one: http://aok.taxreligion.org/links/links.html
