Its a historic neighborhood just south of Oklahoma City University and North of an up and coming entertainment street to the south (15th?). It is emerging into a nice neighborhood, but it still has its eyesores. There are many smaller Tudor style homes and a few streets with some really large homes near an old church. Carey Place is a well known street that is situated in gatewood. OKLAHOMA PARANORMAL NEWS: OKLAHOMA PARANORMAL GUIDEBOOK: CAREY PLACE (OKC)
I think it would be a great place to invest in. Lots of culture close by with the Asian District and The Paseo.
Here are some homes..

16th street, not 15th street which is being developed. Lyric Theatre has opened a theater there.

Its a good area. My harp teacher lives there. Mid-town location is always a good thing.

I looked to move there back in the late 80's and then again in the mid 90's and got frustrated by the whole "historical" thing there. The prices were WAY over and above what I could have bought elsewhere, all except for Crown Heights or Mesta Park area. Gatewood has some cool homes, but for me, way too many un-architectural houses peppered in with the what I would consider homes of architectural and historical significance. Oh and most are small, less than 2,000 sq feet.
I don't like the area surrounding it either. Too "iffy"

Its a mixed district. Some of the houses are very beautiful and you can tell that they have been renovated. But then you go the next street over are its the opposite. It seems like your in the ghetto. These areas are very nice and are slowly being taken over by the wealthy. I do not mean that an any bad way but its the truth. Crown Heights is a very nice area and you might like that more. Its almost in the same location just further North.

The old homes in the area are gorgeous if maintained well.

I think thats pretty right on. With Crown Heights there is Douglas Park (a pretty well maintained neighborhood) to the North. Edgemere Park is just to the South (a great historical neighborhood). Plus there is the Western District to the West. I-235 is just East.(good access to most major motor ways in OKC)... IMO Gatewood is up and coming, but it seems it can be hit and miss. Plus its not as well "insulated" the way Crown Heights is. Granted Crown Heights is quite a bit pricier than Gatewood.
