Hello, i am a 1st year college student wanting to move to the OKC area. OKC is the place i want to start a family, and finish school. I am absolutely in love with Downtown OKC.

I plan to begin researching colleges around OKC very soon.

Can any of you give me info on what colleges are available in the OKC area? I want to be as close to downtown (or in a very active area) as possible.

I am also looking for an apartment in the OKC area..1/1..I am looking to pay up to $800 on month for rent.

I think OKC might be the place for me.

OCU is pretty much in the middle of the city. OU is about 30min from Downtown. UCO which is the same distance away from downtown as OU but its in the opposite direction of OU. We are building new townhouses and apartments downtown. I am pretty sure 800 will cover that. Also if you look around you can find a 1 bedroom apartment from about $450 to 550. If you want to go cheaper. You will get a nice apartment for that price too. Oklahoma is a lot cheaper then bigger cities. Also there is an art district with brand new apartments that are in a very nice area. Sides of town that are better to live on is the NW side or Downtown. You might want to avoid the NE side and S side of town. That is the lower income part of the city. If you want names of the townhouses or downtown apartments just ask me. But again if you want to be in the more upscale apartments got for the townhouses or art district apartments. You will love the atmosphere there. I go there just to eat at the local restaurant. Also, the townhouses are right next to Bricktown where all the fun goes down. Hope you find what you are looking for!!!

There's Oklahoma City University, which is located not far from downtown. It's a private school with tuition in the $20ish thousand range. Outside of Oklahoma City, there's the University of Oklahoma, located in Norman and the University of Central Oklahoma, located in Edmond. Like a previous poster stated, they're both about 30 minutes away from downtown OKC. Since OU and UCO are both state schools, they're both a lot cheaper than OCU.
