PinkieM, You paint a great image! My daughter is in town right now looking for a house to rent and is not having much luck. Did you go through a certain realtor or newspaper? I would love for them to find such a place as yours. Any help from anyone quickly (they fly back to Denver tomorrow) would be greatly appreciated. So far the ones they have lined up to see have either been rented or are not floating their boat! Thanks all!

Hi Luvdasun40, sorry I just read your post. I'm not sure about rentals. We do have a realtor who created a site for us which automatically sent us listings that fit our criteria. It was a godsend as I am up here in Canada. We actually bought the house before I saw it based on the excellent video that the owners had put together and my husband's endorsement. I would think that there must be sites that post about places to rent, such as yahoo. The other benefit to having a realtor is that it allowed us to be really efficient with our time- we saw tons of houses before we finally found ours.
We are in the Tall Oaks area in the east of Edmond. I wish your daughter the best of luck!

I moved to Oklahoma from Washington state about a year ago. We bought a new home in Edmond and I love it here! My husband and I are both liberals and although someone posted many 'sams club republican's' live here, we posted a big 'OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT' sign on our front lawn and nobody said or did anything to us...no cross burning, etc.

From an outsiders POV (So Cal born and raised; lives in Phoenix now), Nichols Hills is where I would live. Edmond is nice but has no character and is just a faceless suburb. Nichols Hills is not just an exclusive neighborhood, it has a fantastic location. It's right in the middle of the best shopping in the state. It's located near the best private schools. And it isn't far from downtown. Furthermore, the houses are unique but not too old and lifeless.

The people in Edmond are a little strange too. They have this chip on their shoulder. Do you know people who you feel are always trying to compete with you but you could care less about them: that describes Edmond people. They are always trying to establish themselves and are so insecure about how they are viewed. It's a really strange vibe. I live in Phoenix and we have a little of that childish city vs city aspect but it's nothing compared to the Edmond vs. OKC vibe. I felt the people in Edmond are far snobbier than Scottsdale people and I fail to understand why.

Hi Azriver fan,
I will have to see what I think when I actually live there...but I do find that generalizations of any kind just aren't helpful. As of July 8th, I will be characterized by you as a strange person with a chip on my shoulder, insecure and snobby.

AZRiverFan is actually right on this point. I don't know why anyone from Edmond would have a chip on their shoulder.....I guess they are trying to deny their Okie roots and Southern/Hillbilly heritage?

Ha! It sounds like you're jealous because maybe you're still living in a doublewide trailer and not in Edmond. (-; It's nice here and the people are friendly and kind. Nicholas Hills is very pretty, but for those of us who don't prefer old houses (often lots of upgrades needed and old house 'quirks') Edmond has plenty of personality. There are sections of Edmond that are not new or only consisting of housing developments. There's a very eclectic old town area with cute shops and fun places to venture out to. I'm not knocking any area, but I will defend Edmond because so far, it's been a very pleasant, friendly and family oriented place to live. I'm not of 'okie roots and southern/hillbilly heritage', so don't have anything to deny. (-:

I have to laugh at this thread. From neighborhood information, to labeling people by where they live, and the political sideshow, hilarious.
