Don't be silly. It is all in fun. Frankly I don't live IN either one and I DO live OUTSIDE of both. If I had to choose a city to live in, I would be hard pressed to decide which is "better"...........they are so different in so many respects yet share so much that is a common thread in Oklahoma.......bad roads, corrupt politicians, visions of a future no one wants to pay for.......and wonderful people of compassion and openness.

Once again I find myself in complete agreement with Synopsis. People in Texas do not hate Oklahoma, maybe you just know a few flaky ones. I think what is happening in OKC and Tulsa is great! I am much more familiar with Tulsa as are most of my friends. We love it. It has a really cool vibe. I wish it was easier to get to than using that speedtrap highway 75.

BTW, there was a very nice write up in the Sunday DMN about bricktown and the canal. San Antonio, Oklahoma City urban waterways anchor cities' pride, vision | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Travel | Dallas Morning News

You're probably right. And, I am trying to talk my wife into taking I-35 through Oklahoma City, then up the Turner Turnpike to Tulsa, then to Bartlesville in June. I really do not like 75. I-35 is much more smooth and not any speed traps. So far, I'm over-ruled due to our toddlers' needs (time spent in said vehicle is a critical factor for two 21-month old boys).

Our first four days will be spent in Bartlesville for a wedding. The remaining six days will be spent in OKC for family and vacation.

Stop off at Turner Falls near Ardmore for a brief swim and play time, An hour there should wear them out so a nap is in order that should last quite a while. Once on Turner Turnpike, the McDonalds mid-way (near Stroud) has a playground as I recall (not having kids myself now, I don't really pay that much attention) and they have a Java Dave's coffee bar with Italian Ice and some good coffees and cappacino's.

Yeah that would be some drive with little ones. Last time I went to Tulsa I went through Paris and got on the Indian Nations where it starts there by Hugo. It was a little longer trip but it was far less stressful. Plus, that part of Oklahoma is just beautiful so it was a very nice drive.

I got a ticket once in Caney Valley in 2000, the cops were hateful and I thought the whole situation was degrading. I am always very careful when I go through those small towns, I try not to stop for gas, bathrooms or anything. Small towns in Texas can be just as bad, but at least I have a Texas plate.

I have never been to Bartlesville but I heard it is really nice. I would like to see the Wright tower at some point.

Hey Sparkman, thanks for the link. I'll read it right away friend. And you're right; most people in Texas do not hate Oklahoma - most love going there and spending time in the Ouachita or Wichita mountains. Or, even a short trip to Turner Falls. My Texas friends have a high respect for Oklahoma and her charms.

This is happening already. I the last couple months I have spoken to people from CA and WA who have moved to OK because they heard there was work here.

I consider myself a Texan (although I'm currently in PacNW hell) and I love OK. In fact, I'm trying to move back to TX, but I would easily move to either OKC or TUL if I had the right job offer, and I have been looking at both those cities, along with others in Texas. I love both states and her people. So---stay away from those bad Texans! Plus, you don't have to share your pretty state with them. Share it with those who appreciate it!
