Vans is still one of the best BBQ joints around. They now have 2 locations, and seem to be doing well. Lots of things are changing, but a lot of the area is still the same. I've been around here for quite a while, grew up in McLoud ('72-'80). Did 3 years active duty in the army, then came back & stayed in Pott county through the years, McLoud, South Rock Creek, Bethel/Tecumseh, & now back in Newalla. I've worked in Shawnee since '85.

Hi BC: Like you, I accidentally ran across this forum and I was also born in Ada, OK. I left in '80 and moved back in '96. This year, we got a Chili's and an Applebee's! Woo hoo! Still waiting on a Red Lobster!

Hey Susan Kay. I live in Muskogee. I grew up in Webbers Falls and Warner and graduated Webbers Falls HS in '85.

I ate at Van's Pig Stand once about 1997-98 on way back from OKC to where I live now in Muskogee OK. It was great!

Do you happen to know Trey Cash (Martin Cash, III)? I believe he recently retired army reserves (E-7) in Shawnee area? He would be a distant cousin of mine. My family originated in the Prague area.

Now you have me curious about Shawnee. My greatgrandmothers were from Oklahoma, well, not at first. They were Cherokees and came to OKla on the Trail of Tears. I still have relatives in Ardmore, but the only ones I really knew have passed away.

"Anybody out there?" I may be out there by October to find a home, but in Cherokee CO. Now I have to find out about Shawnee.

I am from Shawnee originally; moved to Oklahoma City many years ago. My husband and I have spent the last few weekends driving around in small OK towns looking for a small restaurant to buy. We want to move back to a small town and get out of OKC. Pauls Valley looks very promising.

I have relatives in the Maud area. I have been trying to find info. on my great grandparents. Tom and Nancy Coleman. I'm hoping to acquire the "100 Years Of History" 1896-1996 Maud, Okla. Their names are in it. I'd like to follow up with the geneology on that branch of the family. Would you know any Maud Colemans? Or have any suggestions for me? I am very new at this. I live in Ut.
