Favorite restuarants in OKC
Just wondering what are some of everyone's favorite restuarants in the OKC area? I've lived here for about 3 years now and feel like we go to the SAME places, always chains like Chilis, Interurban, etc.

For a good cheap lunch buffet, there's a chinese restaurant close to N50th and Western, actually its on 50th across the street from the drug store and the post office. Great food. Mostly lunch crowd, but the food is always fresh and doesn't all taste the same. Sorry, having a senior moment and can't remember the name of it...
And we hit Cheesecake Factory by the Penn Square Mall. It is too crowded though. That place is for birthdays and the like. We live farrr from OKC and only come in once in a while.

Wow thanks for the list- I definitely do not live in Edmond...lol just the opposite, the Yukon/Mustang area where there's a lot of nothing to eat. Maybe I should of asked, any places over here on the south/southwest side of town that are good besides all the chains on meridian?

I know what you are saying- that area is great for expansion and the house market is booming(great for investmentt/but a lot of OKC is now also!). But I have been around in the area and they do have a lot of chains. It is good and bad. Tough to start out with great local eats before big chains in a developing city. The drive is pretty far, but with the interstate(sorry OKC has so many i cant remember the name-- I-40?). you can get down to downtown/bricktown/stockyards area at least once a week for a lot of fun and a great meal. I did know someone in your area i will try to ask about the local eats/but we dont speak too much anymore(sad). good luck-

The Bricktown area has a lot of great restaurants. Lots of chains, which people tend to complain about, but if the food is good what does it matter? Bricktown is an excellent area to get out and enjoy the evening. I stayed in the Bricktown Marriot and loved it; a short walk from everything downtown OkC has to offer.

Not many chains at all actually- especially around downtown. Starbucks/ Sonic(locally owned)/hooters/sphegetti warehouse/abuelos are the only franchises that I currently know of. I believe you are thinking retail. Tobys thing, although it seems to be a chain- is not. This might have given you that impression, which I understand, because it seems to be a bit of a box. Look up bricktown eateries and you will find a list. I might be wrong, but the locals definitely have a greater influence. I would say 80% are local.

That's good to hear. I didn't know that (chains prevailed) for sure, so the bigger presence of local eateries is a good thing.

western ave.
I should have mentioned N.Western Ave. to her- as far as I know it has zero chains. Many great small local places to eat;my favorite hang outs!

Reason: editing stinks its N.Western!
