My son will be living in Oklahoma City while he is in air traffic controller training. He needs a good barber who does black hair. He is very picky. He is planning to grow an afro since he thinks he will never find a good barber in a place where on 15% of the population is black. I think he should be as groomed as possible since he works for the government. We live in New Orleans where we have many good barbers. Also are there any clubs that play R&B music where nice people hang out. Somewhere safe where folks are out to have fun and not cause trouble.
Thank You.

There is a guy named scissorhands who has a shop on NE 23rd and MLK. He cuts all the hair of the big time athlete types out of Oklahoma. I know that Adrian Peterson went up there for a cut when he was in town this summer. I'm sorry I can't think of the name of the place right now but when I do I will post it.

There's a barbershop on the NE corner of 36th and Kelley that is very popular with professionals.

Here's a link for R&B clubs in the city ...

You are right, there just aren't hardly any black folks in OKC.

According to 2012 OKC demographics, African Americans make up over 15% of the population. While some live in areas scattered throughout the city, the northeast quadrant is where the majority live.

I am born and raised here and it is alot of blacks living all around okc. Its just that ok is a racist state and do not cater to us. So you would think its none here but believe me its growing fast. So you people moving here and need a dependable barber Im your best thing going. I pay all my attention to the client...no talking all day...leaving you in the chair...dont have to take smoke breaks. I get you in and out. Thanks

I wondered how long it would take before this ignorant comment would surface.
