I would say Edmond. The area of Edmond east of I-35 is very nice. Large estate lots with tree farms, horse farms, vineyards, etc.

Definitely Edmond. I live in Edmond right now and there is no way I'd live anywhere else in the OKC area after living here.

Don't forget though Edmond is plagued with OCU and UCO students. Not nearly as many as Norman has with OU but still quite a few.

Not that they're troublesome. Edmond is still the nicest, also most costly, part of OKC.

We are a military family who expect to xfer to Tinker AFB this Spring. We are not cookie-cutter kind of people, so the prospect of living in one of the historical neighborhoods on the northwest side of OKC sounds great. Does anyone know what the approximate commute time would be from Edmond to Tinker? Too long? Based on the info posted here, I'd love to take a look at Edmond.

I used to commute from southeast Edmond to Tinker for work. It took about 30 minutes one way. I would imagine if you're planning to commute from further west than that, it'll be longer.

When my dad worked on base he had to go about 25-40 minutes on I-35 to get to Tinker from North Edmond. It all depends on how early you leave because 5 minutes early can make you get to the base like 15 minutes sooner.

I'll agree that Edmond is probably one of the nicest towns in the area- however the commute in and out is horrible. And it's not exactly the least expensive part of the city either.
I've lived in both NW Okc (just south of deer creek) and also SW (West Moore/Okc area and Yukon/Mustang area.
Both of these areas, in my opinion have been great places to live.

If you're looking for something different with an eclectic group of people and beautiful historic homes, then just north of downtown would be your best bet.

i tend to overall agree with Emery'sMommy synopsis of all the areas. NW OKC in general is a nice area as well, but there are some pockets that arent.

I have lived in NW OKC/Edmond since I moved here 8 years ago. I would suggest the Edmond area especially if you have kids in school. Edmond schools seem to be the best in the area. (my opinion) It is safe area but is the more expensive part of the city. If you do not have kids, there are quite a few historical areas that are awesome! Downtown area has improved greatly since I have moved here. There are nice apartments there and more going up. Hope this helps.
