Doceddie, look at Edmond, Yukon, Moore, and Norman for a start. Those are the largest satellite cities with low crime rates.
I don't think the crime rate in OKC proper is that high. Some areas are higher, but OKC is like any larger city in that it has areas of poorer homes with higher crime. Many areas in OKC are very nice. The MAPS projects have been great for OKC, and I don't know where that info about the meter maids came from.
OKC has very pretty women, but they only like gentlemen.
We have good bagels in OKC too.

Here is a qoute from the article....Simple to understand. Right?
"The city adopted the 22-mile String of Pearls plan in 1980 with expectations of federal funding, but that funding dried up during President Ronald Reagan's administration. Then came the oil bust in 1982, and everything in Oklahoma stopped."

i would like to say its getting better and since they ( the older bible belt for fathers arent in control of the local politics anymore ) the city and state will grow the proof is theres gambling now in the state and alot of what oklahoma needed for years is now being allowed and its helping the state the people and if the people remain in control of the local politics instead if letting it get cought up in religous redric like in the past it will be great ..
but not to be argueing that wasnt my intention but
to answer the last question the FAST TEAMS roll on Moore and Norman all day and Nite there so be careful FACT
i would go alittle bit farther out being from a large metro town its common to drive 30 45 miles to work daily so i would go to shawnee or seminole area to look for a house maybe the Pink area you will enjoy the drive and the country views
just my personal opinion anyway ....but hey to each there own the younger generation may like the drama i really just like to drive in to okcity for the entertainment and for all the nice things to do but by no means would i live in okcity or its burbs

Excellent info Wiz, thanks.
If one didnt want to travel 45 minutes into the city, what are the attractive options, in OKC? Thanks man.

Wizzard- I think you somewhat came back down to earth. The mainstream is just that...the mainstream. That is one of the reasons I participate on this forum. To kill off the old stereotype...The negative stereotype that you implied.
Living in OKC for a long time gives you respect, but it doesnt matter if you are not currently up to date.
I highly respect the fact that you work in law enforcement, but I think most that do are somewhat traumatized because they see crime on a regular basis. I have always considered it to be akin to have served in a war...No one finds a war zone acceptable in a city/place/environment. Hence you are probably are inclined to give a different opinion even if it clashes with the facts.
Sir-stats are generated for a reason. It is vital for people to truly understand what is happening NOW and not be given very very old information that we both truly know is wrong. This doesnt mean that you cant give your opinion, but if your opinion is off key (which I proved) then yes, prepare to defend your position.
I do like the country in Oklahoma City, although I have to admit that if I were to live in the country I would choose the NE part of Oklahoma because of the natural beauty.
But my love for a city environment like OKC peaks my interest and considering I have basically lived here all my life, would obviously give me more knowledge about the urban parts of OKC. I also know a decent amount of Oklahoma history. You are obviously intelligent and have great information about the surrounding country parts of OKC that others would find really helpful. Again, welcome to the forum.

Not to sound mean...But obviously the links given would be the best info. They come from legitimate actual sources that have been generated by the businesses and the community of OKC. Although ones perception of attractive options differs and is subjective. I would still highly consider looking over them. They provide maps, facts, places to eat, museums and all the entertainment that OKC can provide you. Good luck with your quest man.
