Wow- It really looks nice. The parks look wonderful. The black lamps are really making OKC and Guthrie pretty. I wonder if it was a metro operation to put in the lamps or was it Guthrie? Anyway wonderful to see a place i will be sure to visit soon.

The lamps you see were the result of a collaboration between the city of Guthrie and the U.S. government by way of matching funds/Grants.
BTW, Guthrie is/is not a part of the OKC metro depending on who you ask. It is in another county (Logan) thus...

If Guthrie is not associated with the metro of OKC. Then you would have to say that Norman,Edmond, ElReno, Lexington are not either. Guthrie is OKC metros gem. Metros take up more than one county. But who cares, the special place is only 25 minutes from where I live in the city. So it will always be a get away for OKCitians. I would consider that metro.

I got ya, it is just that it might or might not be considered part of the "metro" depending on if it is, or is not, to the advantage of whoever you are asking.

Yes absolutely. But you have to define boundaries. So its in the metro. Many towns in Tulsa should not be in the metro, but they are. Oklahoma for you! I still am looking forward to a sunny day to come and spend some money!

Reading Guthries history is amazing. The first capitol but then taken by OKC! No wonder the town is so preserved, historical and beautiful. What a national treasure after doing some quick searches. They should def have a forum for Guthrie along with OKC and Tulsa. I dont care about the size of the town, so really if you went by the significance of the city to the state or nation- Then Guthrie should have its own forum. Dallas has nothing like a Guthrie. Not many big metros do I geusse.

OKC has had many strange things happen. That was the start of them.
Other than the land run boom town when OKC first began!

You can suggest this in "About the Forum", but I doubt it will happen. Sub-forums are based on traffic about that specific area. If you don't want to post it there and you are really interested in a sub-forum, you can PM Administrator.

Thank you Jammie that would be an interesting topic for someone to discuss. I am too lazy but someone should!

I don't recall when living in Texas seeing any towns or cities that I did like as well as Guthrie. I did like Austin, and I remember liking Canton, but maybe it was because they had that big flea market and big trees as I don't recall the town. Well, Victoria was pretty, but I don't remember the city just the neighborhoods, and the other thing I remember was how unfriendly people were and when looking for a place to rent being told that if I wasn't raised in that town forget it.
I would not want to think of Guthrie as part of the OKC metro. Just like I wouldn't want to think of Muskogee as part of the Tahlequah metro. An island to our own I say.
