LindaC in OK is on a distinguished road
I am a pretty outgoing person soooo whether in NY, Washington State or in Monterey, CA wherer I lived most of my life I tend to start conversations. Moved to Okemah, OK in 1996 and love the small town with nary a traffic light. My property is only 4 1/2 miles from hwy #40 but it is totally in the country. Some people I've met thought I lived here all my life and to me that is a compliment.

ok, so now we know you are the one who just moved to Vinita. Well, maybe it is just Vinita, I don't know, but it sounds to me like your attitude isn't helping you much. BTW, I think you made some comment about no good churches in town. What were you looking for? There are several, if you don't feel comfortable in one, try another.

There are very few people that say OK isn't friendly, GA is as well, I agree, but when you pick a place apart like you did on the other board you won't get much sympathy. I don't know why you moved to OK, this isn't important, just make the best of it. Enjoy the different scenery, visit one of the rivers, wander down to Grand Lakes area, visit a casino if you like to gamble. There are always things to do. When someone does talk to you, let them know how much you appreciate it, don't pout and don't let on you are unhappy. It is amazing how things can change.

NMNita

Rude? Why, because they stare?

Sure when I was walking my dog people stared, but I considered it curiosity, and when I got closer to them they said hello and struck up a conversation.

But to each their own. I think it is your attitude and lack of understanding, plus saying that New Yorkers are smarter is really rude. You will find people in OK to be very intelligent, with or without an education. I have never heard anyone refer to New Yorkers as being friendly. But I have never been there, so I wouldn't know. I have lived in the south, Mississippi, Florida, Texas, and OK beats all of these places hands down. I have lived in Arizona, traveled to many other States, as well as lived in CA, and still OK and even AR way outdo other States combined.

nmnita, I found Arkansas to be the same too.

NMnita and jessaka, as a proud Oklahoman, let me say that we welcome more and more people like yourselves; open-minded, thoughtful, and respectful of others. It's good for Oklahoma that you are either already in Oklahoma or looking to move there (as in NMnita's case).

The addition of you two (hopefully NMnita too) to the rest of the rank and file Oklahomans does nothing but make the state a better place to live.

Cali, according to our neighbor Lake Tenkiller is about the prettiest place in the country. I am almost willing to bet my next kid (actually that would be a no loose bet for me) that the little gal who thinks Vinita and OK are so bad will never come back here. Statements like who is smarter pisses me off. Most of our family are somewhat educated, many with advanced college degrees, others not so much. My dad, one of the smartest men I ever knew and one of the best educated taught us to respect a person for what he/she is. Yes, education was very important to him, but my oh my, he loved his fishing and hunting buddies in Norhtern Calif, many of the may not have had high school educations. Our possible future grandson in law from AR, barely has a high school education, he will be marring our wonderful granddaughter who, by then will have a masters degrees. do we care? of sure, I guess if we were to pick her life's mate he may not be at the top of the finalists, but he is not dumb, has a great attitude, is a truely hard worker, not a spoiled brat and treats her like gold. He is ok with us. I would guess our friend with the attitude about people in OK will have to return to GA. She will never be happy with the low life she has to deal with in OK. I wonder if she would like cheese with her Whine? Sorry, slap my face again.

Nita

You wanna know what people in the U.S. that I consider highly intelligent although not educated? Those who live in the Appalachian Mountains and have wonderful survival skills. I wish that I could meet someone like that that would teach me everything. I used to want to live there too, but my friend went there with the idea to teach and said it was too cold in those mountains. Plus, they don't welcome newcomers.

You will never know how glad I am to see that we have the same type of scenery here near Tahlequah and Arkansas, so I can't wait to see it in the fall.

Lake Tenkiller is the prettiest? You mean it beats the Grove area and other parts of the Green Country?
