Question Flooding in Northeast Oklahoma--update appreciated.

I see that southeast Kansas is virtually underwater and my heart goes out to those folks. All that water makes its way down into Oklahoma by way of the rivers. Anyone know what Grand Lake looks like? Last I heard it was really muddy on the north end and pretty "stained" on the south with all the runoff. Anyone know about flood stages on the Grand and Elk rivers? I bet the spillways at the dam are really pouring the water out. And that water has to make it down into Lake Hudson and the Illinois River watershed around Tahlequa. I am going to be out there on July 19th for a stay. Hope there is no flooding on Grand Lake itself. Let me know how Northeast Oklahoma is doing Thanks.

I was checking stages earlier today. Pensacola Dam (Grand) is releasing about 60,000 cfs with comparable inflow. 25% of flood control pool is filled. You can expect pretty dirty water there for some time.

Even two weeks ago it was very muddy, but hopefully things will improve shortly. So much for Global Warming. OK, I am sorry, just couldn't resist.....

Nita, you're funny!! I'm so glad that Kurt asked about this. We've been watching the weather channel and seeing all the flooding down there. It covers SO much of an area. I believe that now Joplin has been included in the problems. Geesh, we got lost in that town.

Does anyone know if the Grove area itself has flooded homes or businesses?

I live in Miami Oklahoma and it is 26 miles from Joplin Mo. The flood here is the worse I have ever seen. The 1986 flood was really bad and they/re telling us this is going t0o be worse. I already have many friends that have had to move out of their home and every where you drive you have to turn around because of the water. We have been told that this is the worse since 1951.

I'm SO sorry to hear that. Today the weather channel kept talking about areas of Tx. being so flooded. We didn't even hear them mention OK so we thought maybe things were getting better there.

By the way, how do you like living in Miami? Have you always lived there or are you a transplant?

darn, and I wanted to say something a little stronger, this is really getting bad. I guess all we can say is: all things change and eventually the floods will just be a memory or at least that is what we hope.

Nita

ps Jamie, I wonder what is happening to Grove? I can imagine the river. Yuk!!!!

Wanted to update you on the flood in Oklahoma. The governor came today to see the damage. They said on the news that half of Miami is under water fortunately we aren't near it. They just showed on the news water up to the rooftops of alot of homes and it isn't suppossed tostart going down until Sunday!!! Everybody pray.

I have lived in Miami since Feb 1971. We moved here from Long Island New York. My dad fell in love with the way main street look. It curved and lovely shrubs and trees. Now the town has taken out all the greenery and the curves and it is an ugly downtown Miami. That's my opinon.

Sorry to hear about all the flooding back home in Oklahoma. It looks as though rain is predicted for Green Country every day this week & there's no end in sight. Unbelieveable.

Sorry to hear about the people who are losing their homes to this.

Is Grove having the same situation that Miami is having? I know they aren't far apart.
