Just an update. The Lead Coordinato sent me a personal e-mail today. So it looks like they are "in the game". I think you were right by stating that they may be busy. Every time I send any of the Realtors a request for more information about a property, the property is either under pending contract or already sold. It looks like some very positive things are about to come Lawton's way.

Harry_T,
I think that's great that you finally got an e-mail ! It really does look and sound like things will be improving in Lawton/Ft.Sill and the surrounding communities.Everytime i'm out for a drive i see people looking at houses.
I think BRAC will bring changes to this area.I just hope that others looking to move to this area also check out the quieter smaller communities outside of Lawton, like Fletcher, Sterling, Marlow, and Elgin. They are very peaceful.
Good luck with the house search !

Just a quick update gang since I have been away for awhile. I finally received my official travel orders today. We are currently scheduled to fly on 14 Sep but may get pushed back to 28 Sep due to transportation logistic issues. Boy is it getting close. I can't wait to be back in the States.

Here is something one of my real estate agents sent me the other day. This is the ratings that Standard & Poor's gave when comparing the 3 school districts to each other (Elgin, Fletcher, and Lawton). This information may be helpful if you have kids and are looking for a town to reside in based off of academic prowess.

I have lived in the Lawton / Ft . Sill area most of my life . There are small towns with great schools , two that I highly reccommend are Walters and Elgin . They are about equal distance to Lawton . There are plenty of new homes being constructed in both in your price range . I graduated from Elgin school in 1982 and loved it there . My children are going to Walters schools and love it too . I would find it hard to decide which is better .
We moved out of Lawton for alot of reasons , main one being the gang problems there . It is quiet here in Walters and in Elgin too . So take your pick , both are great little towns with lots of caring people , community activities and pride .
As far as the mosquitos , this is Oklahoma and if it rains we got 'em everywhere .
Good luck in your search and WELCOME TO OKLAHOMA !!!!

Since you have a lot of mosquitoes down there, too, what is the reason that you're West Nile cases are SO low? I posted a few days ago after I saw a national map for West Nile. My state unfortunately is one of the worst for this and OK doesn't seem to rate at all in it.
