Default Wetumka, Ok?

I used to live in Wetumka, on south Main st. I don't remember the actual address, but I'm looking to find the current owners or any past owners besides ourselves. We used to live there back in 1981. I am just wanting to chat with any owners/renters of this home.

Pic of how it used to look when we lived there

Pic of how it looked when the lawyer bought the home

Wow, really neat looking house. I'm from Hughes County, myself. I used to drive through Wetumka alot on my way to Tulsa from my mom's house. I'm sorry I can't help you with the particulars, but perhaps you can try the county records. I know where I live in Tarrant County, you can go to the Tarrant County (online), type in an address, and find out the current owner of the home, how much it's appraised for, and so on (too much info, really). I doubt that Hughes county has any online searchable records, but for sure you should be able to call the County Courthouse and give them the address; it's all supposed to be public knowledge. You may have to pay a small fee to get them to do it manually though.

I'm sure that if you sent that picture to someone in the city or chamber of commerce they might be able to tell you the address. It's worth a try.

Default Got it.

I enlarged the older picture of the house from when I used to live in it and the address is 501 S. Main St. in Wetumka. I've also started talking to someone who was born and raised in the area. I'd still love to find out who currently owns or lives in the home. This place was majorly haunted back when I used to live in it.

OH, I love haunted house stories. There's another OK member who is really interested in those things, too. Hopefully he'll come along and see your post. Could you tell us any good stories about when you lived there?

Can you do a reverse search on the address?

We went to Holdenville Courthouse and looked up our address. I am sure they would have the records for Wetumka which is also Hughes County.

It shows EVERYTHING. Even how the neighbors have been borrowing money on their house, etc. It was very interesting!

Default Wetumka, Ok

Actually the correct address for the house in the picture is....
501 E. Broadway, Wetumka........the current owner is Rev. Darrell (Bo) Gibbs, minister of Assembly of God church in Wetumka......(405) 452-3156.
He bought the house from Kathy White, husband was Lawrence White, now deceased.....

Thank you all, sorry I haven't been in here for a while but I've been so busy with different stuff. Here is what we went through while living at this home.

When I was 14 we moved from Texas to Oklahoma (my grandfather was a preacher and we moved almost every year) but they found their "Dream house" for dirt cheap, the single story by it was valued at a much higher price, and this house that we were moving into was a 2 story, turn of the century home, that was in really good shape.

We moved in durring the first 2 wks of summer, took what we could (basics) in the car and small uhaul attached to the car, the rest was coming via a moving company. Our first night, our parents were in bed, door closed. My older sister and I had to share my mattress on my bedroom floor. My sister and I fell asleep, Somewhere around 1am we both woke up at the same time (I'm a light sleeper and anything could have woke me up, but my sister is an extremely heavy sleeper, it takes allot to wake her up) we looked at each other, and heard a small childs voice coming from outside (remember that it is around 1am), we both crawled to the window and looked out, saw a little girl, around 5 or 6 yrs of age with long blonde hair standing on the corner by our house (I had the front corner bedroom, outside was a street lamp, tree stump and fire hydrant), she was standing there calling "Eeeeemmmmmiiiiiilllllyyyyy" (Emily) over and over again, looking around as if to see her, Somewhere around 3am she just dissapeared in front of our eyes. We were freaked out and went back to bed, although I really don't think that I got a winks sleep that night at all. This happened at the same time for 3 nights in a row. Then it all ended. We got the rest of our furnature a few days later.

About a week or so later one of our neighbors came over, asking my mom (grandmother) if I'd like to babysit on their anniversary for their 2 children, they called me downstairs, and I said yes. A few days later, when I went to their home that evening to babysit, I met their little boy, (precious little boy), and bout went into shock when I met their daughter, (you guessed it, around 7 years old, long blond hair), she was the spitting image of the little girl that my sister and I had seen when we first moved into the house. The couple told their kids to go play that they wanted to talk to me, they asked me whats wrong, (with a knowing look toward each other), and I told them what my sister and I saw when we first moved into the house. That's when they told me that their daughter had a twin sister, and a couple of years ago she got sick and died, she had a best friend named emily that used to live in our house, emily, her brother and their parents moved out of the area as emily was so heartbroken when her friend died.

About 3 months or so after that last incident, we would all be in bed, our parents with their door closed, my sister with her door open and my door open also. One night I had just finished reading one of my romance novels (least a chapter in it), set it down, turned off my lamp and snuggled under the covers. All of a sudden I heard what sounded like a huge person (around 400 lb person) walking up the stairs (ever heard someone stomping on hard wood floors?sounded like that) up each step, I heard it go up all the steps, walk to our parents room, stop, walk to my sisters room, go in, stop, and then come to my room (now let me fill you in on something here, the only people living in the house at this time was my sister, myself and our mom and dad, and our mom had this really weird habit every night at bedtime of locking all the doors and windows, and double checking them over and over for about an hour every night, paranoid?? probably). By the time it got to my room, I already had the sheet over my head and was doing my best to breath ever so shallow so "it" would think that I was already dead and not hurt me. Well, have you ever had anyone breath from above you while you are holding a sheet over your head? that's exactly what it looked like, and I could hear the breath also. It stayed over my bed breathing on my sheet for what seemed like an eternaty, but my sister timed it after it left her room one time and it was actually in my room for 10 minutes! (talk about freaky), then it would leave my room and you could hear it going downstairs and it would dissapear on the landing before it got to the last 5 steps. This went on for months!! I looked at it once, it was a tall, large dark shadow, top hat on, and glowing eyes. Really freaky.

One day while still at this house, our parents were at a church thing, and my sister and I were on the front porch, she was drawing or embrodering and I was crocheting, this was not long before she got married. The back door was locked and the only was in the house was the front door by us, well I had to go use the restroom really badly, and I never liked the downstairs one in the breakfast nook as I always got a really bad feeling about that room under the staircase in the breakfast nook, so I went upstairs to use the restroom, well one particular time I got about 1/2 way up the stairs when I heard the very distinct sound of the upstairs toiled flush itself, I freaked out, flew down the stairs and out the front door (now mind you the upstairs toiled had a very distinct sound as it was a much older toilet than the downstairs one). My sister looked at me and joked saying "you look like you just saw a ghost, and by the way, you sure got up and down those stairs quickly to have actually used the restroom", I couln't speak for quite some time. Once i did I told her what happened and she said that she heard the toiled flush and withing seconds here I came running out. I have gotten many. many years of nightmares due to all the things that we have seen and heard in this house. I finally lost the nightmares about 4 years ago and pray that I never get them back.
There would be times that our mom would be the ony one in the house (we would be at a friends) and she would be in the kitchen, would put her rings and watch in this little pink fish dish that she would keep in there, and would do the dishes, dry her hands and go to get her jewlery to find it gone, just to find it upstairs neatly laid on her dresser in her room.

Other times either our mom or our dad would get out a knife in the kitchen to use, would lay it down on the counter to turn around and get the cutting board, then go to reach for the knife just to see the handle barely sticking over the top of the cubbords and mind you, the only way to reach the top of the cubbords to put the knife up there was to go outside and get the ladder (not a step ladder) and bring it into the kitchen, so they couldn't blame us on that one!.

OMG Para, what fascinating occurrences!!! Thank you for sharing that with us. I haven't read this thread for lack of new posts, but I'm wondering if anyone is living in there right now. Did you ever learn what happened to the previous owners of that house~the ones who lived there just before you did?

I'm just hoping that our OK member who has a special interest in the paranormal will pop in and read your post. My thoughts are that he'd be very interested in your experiences.
