Best Cell Phone Service in Green Country?
My Sprint contract will be expiring soon after I move to SE OK and I'll be relying on it when I'm there for 2 weeks the end of this month. Will Sprint work well for the few months I still have it after I move there and what wireless providers should I be considering changing to if Sprint isn't first choice?

I have Verizon and brought it with me. They said if I got a new number it would put me on another year contract. My contract will be up in September, and so I plan on getting Trac from Walmart where there is no contract and I am not paying $50 for a phone I seldom use. And you only pay for the minutes you use, and you add minutes as you go. I would have gone to a cheaper rate, but again, they wanted a new contract for a year. I understand analog isn't too great with it. I guess they have it but it cost more to use. But if I didn't pay $50 with Verizon I wouldn't have analog roam.
I am sure that Sprint will work just as well as Verizon.

Anybody else out there who can offer specific problems they've had with specific providers would be greatly appreciated!! It's been my experience that hilly areas depend on fewer transmitting stations, and fewer wireless providers as a result. I use my wireless service much more than my landline, and will be relying on it too much not to know at least providers to avoid.

It just depends on what specific area you will be in, SinCity. When we moved to Hughes County we had Cingular but changed to U.S. Cellular which is apparently the only service we can get here with a local number. So we signed a one year contract and bought their phones, took them home, but they wouldn't work at our house. We live in a hilly area.
We were mad, we went back to the store but they were really nice. They let us out of our contract and refunded the money for the phones. So, we had to go back to Cingular, but it is an OKC number, so it makes for long distance calls.
I would have to say Cingular and Sprint seem to work the best in these hills, but it really varies.

When I visit the Tahlequah area, I get excellent reception just about everywhere with my Verizon phone. However, the service is from Alltel's towers not Verizon - they seem to be limited to the Tulsa area. So I would probably consider Alltel.

Many thanks. I'll be sure to get some confirmations from realtors I deal with while looking at homes and should get a common consensus before all is said and done!
