About the cabins on Hugo Lake...there are several there you can rent. My brother rented one for the weekend so I assume that photo was of his rental. We had lost a brother that May and he wanted a place to "hide out" to get away from things. He said it was the perfect place.
Here is the link to Hugo Lake's website. Index
Randy Pruitt was very helpful when I contacted him in the past.
Oh and their website has MORE photos!

The photographs on Hugo Lakes website are breathtaking. The more I see of Oklahoma the more excited I get about the future move.

Rugrat, I'm SO sorry about the loss of your brother. That area looks like a perfect place to get away from it all. I looked at the pics on the link and those cabins are so cute. I was surprised they aren't more rustic~they look so modern and comfy.
Peggy, our states do seem to have a lot of things in common. We do get some very hot summer days, but our humidity is USUALLY lower then it is down there. But I'll take the hot weather any day over the cold. Those pics of Lake Holdenville are so pretty. I love that road leading up to it. And you said there's a beach there, too????? Where is it located?

Usually, is right. Try the OK Panhandle, I swear it's the driest place on the planet, and I've been in AZ before.

So right, Nameless. The Panhandle is so dry, and because of its high elevation is it not cooler. I hear about snow there much more.
Yes Jammie, the side of the lake across from the highway is sandy and beachy. Lake Holdenville is south of Holdenville. So where's Holdenville? Its east on I-40 from OKC, about 30 miles south of I-40.

Well, the temperatures vary more. Highs tend to be a touch warmer in the summer and a touch cooler in the winter. All year long the lows are much cooler. Guymon area averages somewhere around 20 inches of snow, but they tend to get it in huge bunches. So you hear more about it.

I meant the temperatures are a lot cooler in the panhandle, or that is what I thought. I didn't know it got hotter during the day, but it sure was hot the last day I was there! I wouldn't mind the hot summer days so much if it would cool off at night like in the panhandle. If it just wasn't so dern flat there.

Don't quote me on this, but as far as I know the average low in Guymon in the summertime is low 60's.

Good deal, I figured it was somewhere near there. The only disadvantage to the summer out there, that I can see, would be the wind. Other than that, the lower humidity makes it feel better. It's hardly ever hotter enough than most of OK to make it feel worse.
