Open Range
Here's something some of you out-of-staters might not get to see. It's open range cattle on the road.
This is actually common in a lot of places around Oklahoma.

The flip side of the picture above is this....unfortunately.

Thanks, OkieWolf, I enjoyed your pics. About 2 miles from my house in NJ was a large dairy farm, but we never saw the cows walking across the street!

I've seen it quite a bit, though it was primarily the warning signs in CO and WY. That's mostly what there was when I first got to Kodiak, and it was kind of strange, seeing a herd of scottish highlanders strolling single file across a road to get to the beach. But open range cattle are a whole lot better than the unexpected moose darting out on the highway, then stopping to stare at you. Hit one of those and your vehicle turns into a giant paperweight. One guy in Anchorage some years ago managed to almost stop, but the moose ended up with it's rump through the windshield. No one could figure out how to extricate it, so it was finally killed and butchered and disposed of like all the rest of the moose road-kills.

They never crossed the street. They were born there, lived there, died there.
The end.
