Aw, thanks. It's a little dark. I converted it to BW because in the color version, the little boy's face is shadowed A LOT by the hat. Don't I have cute cousins?

Your cousins are cute, but your pictures make them REAL, if you know what I mean. Every one of your pix I've enjoyed. I used to take pictures too, but I have an incredible talent for taking the most spectacular shots and turning them into something the average tourist would be ashamed of. So I really do appreciate good photography when I see it, and yours are outstanding.

Not 2 b 2 redundant here, but I love to take pix as much as I like to see very good ones...and I love these!

When I looked at the "Wild mane pony", the first thing I thought for a caption was: "Yes, I am Fabio and I look marvelous!" Well, it made me laugh, anyway.

Too bad we are restricted to two stickys........I would nominate a "Photos by HeatherDawn" permanent thread........

As a side note, when I see things like the cross of the First Church of God like that, or the old barn in Payne.......I can't help but think of the pride of craftsmanship, the hope of great things to come, the embracing of the future that those things represent. I can picture that pastor turning to his wife and a fledgling congregation with a prayer of thanksgiving, pride and joy........I've built barns like that and it isn't easy......and today you see sags, weather beaten wood, failing foundations, and wind shredded roofs, but once upon a time the boards were straight and painted and the roof was tight, and sweaty men stood back to admire their handiwork. The owner could house the array of implements, he could take care of the young heifer who was about to give birth for the first time in a warm, dry stall, he could store enough hay to withstand any winter storm or summer drought....it was a testimony to his prosperity and indisputable evidence of hard work and sacrifice and shrewd planning.

I hope the pastors grandson or the farmers grandchildren took the time to listen to the stories. I hope the accomplishments, the trials and the tribulations have been converted to an oral history that can bring pride and a sense of roots to people who feel they live mundane lives, but in their heritage something magnificent happened.

Heather, any one of your shots could have won the monthly CDF photo contest.

Why don't you come on over to the Photography thread and hang out for awhile. You will fit right in. Everyone is friendly and helpful. It is nothing serious, just a contest to motivate us to get up off our duffs and shoot some pics.

Plus there are a lot of threads for just showing off your wares.
