Can I have one house TO GO, please?
This is a very common sight these days. I wonder if there is a "drive-through" somewhere where people can drive up and order a house to go?
This narrow bridge put the driver's skills to the test.

And that's one of the biggest reasons why it's next to impossible to get a regular mortgage on a mobil home. One lender told me they won't do it, period, because when the mortgage holder defaults and the bank tries to repo it, someone will go to the address and find nothing. But real houses get moved, too, I could have bought a 2 story 6 bedroom house in Bellingham for 5.00, except it would have cost a fortune to jack it up and move it elsewhere - not including the cost of a lot, lot preparation, and all the various inspections and hook up fees.

Pardon my ignorance, but is that pic I posted a mobile home or a pre-fab home? Or is a pre-fab home a mobile home? I've seen tons of mobile homes being pulled down the hwy, but they are usually in two pieces.

It's more a matter of terminology than anything. If it has axles, it's definitely a mobile, even if it's double or triple wide. But the axles can be either included or left off at the factory, as the buyer wishes - if they are left off, then the whole thing is transported on flatbed trucks and it's a pre-fab. OTOH, my BIL got a stick built cabin somewhat larger than his house, jacked it up, jury-rigged axles under it and took it home to use as a workshop. One of the differences in OK is that no matter what you do with a mobile home, apparently, the title is never extinguished. In some states, when you remove the axles and tie it down to a permanent foundation, it becomes real property, and the original title, which comes through motor vehicles, vanishes. Then it's subject to property taxes instead of a vehicle tax.

That appears to be a modular or prefab home. It is a factory built home and is designed to sit on a foundation just like any other house, It meets BOCA or UBC Building Codes and is treated by lenders just like a site built house.
A Manufactured Home (there are no such things as a mobile home anymore) is built on a steel undercarriage or frame, and is built to HUD specifications. They are moved in sections and assembled on site and have a red tag at the lower left corner of the trailer end. The tongue and axel are removed at the site, and the units are assembled and put on piers and tied down. There are several lenders that specialize in financing these things, but for the most part they will not finance one that has been moved after being set up. Financing is generally through FHA or the VA. Unfortunately many people buy these thinking they will increase in value just like a site built house, but for the most part they depreciate just like an automobile will.

Noah's Ark meets Okie Trailer Park
Ain't no trailer park big enough to hold Bubba's Ark! These bubba's could not make the sharp turn.
Bubba #1 got skeert and done run off fearing he would lose his job for being hungover.
So Bubba's #2-3 had to deal with it. You can see them lying on the ground trying to put the ark on blocks on the right end of the trailer.
Bubbba's 4 & 5 are coming to inspect their work.
Meanwhile Bubba #6 is trying to hide the beer cans in the back of the truck bed on the far right.

My husband was born in Bokoshe Oklahoma in 1937, would anyone have any pictures of the children of the school. We went by there last year and saw where it had been, there was a house built on its foundation, we got a rock from the school house building. Wish I could find some pictures of it and the children of that day, to put into our family tree infomation. russhomes@cox.net Thanks you, Jean Russell
