Wow, thanks for that story. Eagles are nothing to be messed with, even when hurt. I'm so glad to hear that they got the beautiful bird to rehab and hope it is okay and flying high to this day.

Default Dense fog and 35 F. this AM

Perfect weather for eagle watching. Took Myla Rose, my trusty canine companion with me, and we headed north of Holdenville.

Here is Myla in her element. No leash and enjoying mother nature to the fullest.

Stopped to say hello to the friendly horses. Note the tipi in the background. Don't know who's land this is.

We were walking along the Little River, when I heard the crows raising a ruckus. A sure sign they were chasing some bird of prey, usually an owl or a hawk.
But on this day a beautiful Bald Eagle flew directly over my head. I didn't get a clear shot of him, but no more than 30 seconds later, the crows told me they were hot on the tail of another one.
And sure enough the eagle's mate flew right over me.

Eagle on the fly! If you had eagle eyes, you would see it plain as day.

It's hay in the scarecrows.

The sun did not come out anywhere I was today. It was really foggy all day.

Great pics of OKC, and of the eagle. Loved your pics of the Little River, Redbird.

I have a story about an eagle. Several years ago I was driving on a road north of Edmond. I saw what looked like a dead hawk in the center of the road. When I looked in the rear view mirror, I saw that the bird raised his head. I backed up and parked my vehicle so no one would come and run over him. I got out and went to look at him, and I could see it was an eagle, a golden eagle I thought. I looked at that beak and claws and wondered what to do, but then he stood up. I used a little pair of jeans to shoo him off the road, which wasn't easy. After a while, he flew off to a tree. I have always wondered what happened to make him fall in the road.

Ya, foggy down here in DFW as well Peggy. I like the fog, as long as it doesn't create accidents. I dampens the sound down and even in a big city like where I live it makes everything so very peaceful.

Those are not my horses. They are on some land about 4 miles north of Holdenville.

My horse sits in front of the grocery store and costs a quarter to ride.

I helped trap and band three juveniles of the first nesting pair of bald eagles in KS. Did you know the juvenile bald eagle's feathers are longer and broader than the adults? Could be the Great Spirit knows the fledgelings are not as adept flyers as the adults.
I live in Tahlequah.

I would have had to have taken that fallen eagle home with me by putting a blanket over it. i would have asked my husband to help. then i would have called whoever. I found a greb once at the ocean that was stunned. I did that and then got him to bird sanctuary. I know it would have been dangerous, but I fear other animals killing it.

I don't hike as much as I used to, and I don't climb mountains due to fear of falling with osteroporsis, but I do walk along the river.

What is a greb?

I haven't hiked for years. I used to hike a lot in the mountains above Los Angeles. I can't get into camping here like I did in CA. I used to love the sequoiyas. I was a real nature nut in my youth.

Now that I am old and fat, just walking along the river yesterday made my leg muscles sore. But I am diabetic and have to force myself to walk whenver I can. That is how I received Myla. She was a gift to me to help motivate me to take walks.

And it works. I love walking with her. We tend to stay out in the boonies as you can see. This is the pic I didn't post yesterday. I hate people who dump crap along the country roads. They have no heart and deserve to die in a fiery car wreck. I should post more dumping pics to show the ugly side of country life. It is sickening to me.

There is a family in town I call "The Dumpers". I have seen that old man take his 12 year old boy to dump several times a month. Its not just certain races either. I saw an Indian getting ready to dump some crap and called the sheriff. As you can see, dumping ticks me off!
