Default For horse lovers

Horse pics!

I read somewhere Oklahoma has more horses per captia than any other state. And I believe it. From here to south of Purcell, there are some beautiful horses. They have really big horse ranches south of Purcell.

Yes, sometimes. I don't know why people will get so many horses/dogs/cats and then not be able tofeed and care for them. There is a group called Blaze's Equine Rescue in Jones that cares for the horses, probably other organizations elsewhere.

One of the things on my list to do after I get settled is to find a nice old retiree of a horse and let it live out it's life in peaceful retirement. I'll have plenty of room, and it doesn't have to be ridden, unless it wants to be. I know some animals need to feel needed, that they still have a job to do, but I doubt I'd be able to do much more than amble along anyway. A horse is one critter I've always wanted, but they weren't practical for the most part in Alaska, and it was prohibitively expensive to keep and feed them there. At least it was expensive to do it right. Actually, it was expensive to keep anything other than a small dog or cat. When I had a goat 30 years ago, a single bale of hay was 20.00+, and the chickens weren't much better.

So do dogs, especially when someone [NOT me] gives them part of a taco with lots of refries in it.
