Kudos to you, Synopsis. Oklahoma: What a beautiful state!
It does not matter who took the pics. You collected them and gave us a real photo montage of Oklahoma. I remember going through the "glass mountains" as a boy on our way to Arizona. I think they are called that because there are large clear gypsum crystals that you can just dig out of the bank cuts along the road. I remember doing that and treasuring them for years. They are soft--not like quartz--and scratch with a fingernail. But they are beautiful nonetheless as you can crack them open and get a fresh crystalline face that has sort of rainbow hue colors. Gosh! You take me back to my simple and carefree boyhood when Dad drove the car and Mom told him what to do when he got lost --ask for help!--and my big brother could even be nice to me once and awhile--but I digress.
From the lush Green Country to the semi-arid mountains and salt flats and magnificent sand dunes. I think Oklahoma has it all. You could and probably should spend a lifetime just getting to know it. Well, someday I shall bid Floriday bye-bye for good. Thanks again.
p. s. I would still like to see some pics of Big Eufala that Peggyd promised.

Thanks Kurt for the compliment. I hope that your move from Florida goes well. Yes, thats one of the reasons I love Oklahoma, aside from it being my home. Oklahoma is only one of four states with 10 or more ecoregions, and it's probably by far the smallest. An ecoregion being mountains, swamps, desert, etc. That's pretty much a telling statistic about how diverse Oklahoma is. You can have just about anything you'd like in this state if you look hard enough. Actually, you don't have to look that hard!

What beautiful photos Synopsis and Peggy. Peggy, is that your home?
I loved the ice storm. It was just beautiful. But I didn't love the electricity going out, and I really didn't like losing more trees.

That is the view off my back porch, Jessaka. That is a flood control lake. We live way way out in the country, where you have to have 4 wheel drive (mud roads) but it is so beautiful and peaceful here.
Oklahoma has had 3 terrible ice storms in the last 6-7 years, and before that I don't remember any that were so bad. I hope we go back to normal, because I hate what it does to the trees. The electric company in our area is gradually replacing the wood utility poles with metal poles, so that will help with future power problems.

How can I copy a link to a thread where I put up some pictures? I copy and paste it but it won't work after I post the reply.

All of the pictures of Oklahoma are just out of this world!! You all have done a great job. I love Oklahoma, if I wasn't so settled in Kansas, I would be living in Oklahoma. Kansas does have some beautiful areas it is not flat as so many people think, but not the different types like OK. has.
And the picture of the city taken at nite, is just great. I love looking at all your pictures.

I had no idea had places like that. I have heard people say they moved to Oklahoma, loved it, and had to move away but wanted to go back. I would definitely live in a place like that if it had some nice communities. It looks like it has a very unique blend if midwestern, southern, southwestern, and western traits combined.

The ice storms can make things a little difficult, but their beauty helps to offset the problems :
( Peggy yours are MUCH prettier!!)
The Snowplows and Sand trucks don't make it down to our side of town, so we just throw on our boots and *crunch* our way to the little store nearby! I love that the Snow/Ice usually doesn't last more than a few days... long enough to enjoy, but not long enough to become tedious.

Out driving near one of Duncan's 5 lakes:
Sunrise from my backyard:
Sunsets are amazing:
I had never seen "Popcorn Clouds" before we moved here...these were just after a storm, during sunset:
