I lived in Anadarko way back in the 70's. Rent was $90/month. And it had it's share of wild ind'ns in those days. I think the High School is something like 60% Native and there is Riverside Indian School there. Not to mention the BIA and few Tribal Headquarters there. It's definitely a throw back, but there are some good people there nonetheless.
Bass, I didn't know you were a "skin". I know a lot of Choctaws and Creeks. I know most of the Choctaws from prison, they make some of the best Correctional Officers there are! Those are some big dudes, let me tell you! And being from Holdenville, there are a lot of Creeks around here.
Sorry, for the intrusion. Back to topic.

No intrusion at all. I'm one of those wannabe Native Americans...1/2 NA and 1/2 Anglo. I'm from the Dances with Wolves strain, LOL!
I grew up going to powwows and being involved with NA events/gatherings around OK City.

Anadarko Bowling alley used to have the greatest hamburgers in the world! Or so we thought back when we were young'ns.
There were a lot of good memories from that place. No matter how small a town is, when you are young you always find the good in it.

The school system is very good. We have some great teachers, but our district is very poor. White children are the minority so if that bothers you at all it might not be a good choice for you. The weather here is HOT!!! It's about 109 today. There are two nice size lakes nearby though. There's no entertainment here except for the bowling alley and a few small bars. Housing prices are very reasonable. Currently I am renting a 4 bedroom, 1 bath, carpor, large front yard and a fenced backyard for $450. I've lived here most of my life. I've moved away a few times but always end up right here in "Warrior" country. I hope this information helps a little--Good luck with the move!

Sweet! We'll have to try them next time we come through that way. I'm supposed to go take pics of Carnegie for an old friend anyway...that would be perfect.
