Default Grove, OK

As I was reading some of the info on this site, I stumbled on to Grove, OK. It looks like a lovely small community. I have a few questions about it.

1. Are there green, rolling hills around it?

2. Are the Ozarks visible from the town?

3. Is the current population about 6,000?

4. What is the economy like there? Any jobs in the service industry, ie motel desk clerks, convenience store clerks, etc?

5. Lendonwood Park, the three acres of flowers~is it plush and pretty and well-kept?

6. Tourism in the area since it's by a beautiful lake?

7. Friendly people?

I found a few internet pics of it and it looks beautiful and small and quaint. If anyone has any info of the area or any sites with pics, I'd be so greatful.

Jammie, I've been to Grove a few times. It is actually rather pretty. Somewhat hilly. I don't recall being able to see the real live Ozarks from there, as far as the high peaks go, but that area IS really part of the Ozarks, just the lowland part.

I thought the town itself had a lot of run down areas, but it's not depressingly awful or anything. Not much to do. Decent lakes nearby though.

Wish I could answer more of your specific questions, but it's been a long time since I've spent any time there. I have a friend from that area who really likes it and thinks it's beautiful.

What I can say is that general region is the prettiest one in the state probably. The greenest, if you will.

My family and I have not been happy here. I like small towns, but the political atmosphere is the complete opposite of where we fit in. I am ready to leave behind the good ol' boy, skoal-dippin' set.

But if you find your way here you will be welcomed and I hope you find what you are looking for and are happy.

Griff, thank you so much for your reply. You really did answer a big question for us and that's if it's plush and pretty. As far as politics, we always vote and pay attention to what's going on, but actually stay far away from it because they're all crazy.

The lowland Ozarks would be perfect since I really don't like driving in high mountains or hills. There appears to be a good hospital there and that's very important to us. (Not that we hope to need one, but you know what I mean) Also, is the Cherokee Nation casino near there? I know they have several in OK, but one of them has the Grove addy.

I really hope to finally get down to OK and see it. Everyone that we've ever talked to raves about the plushness and beauty and the friendliness of the people. We aren't looking for a fast life or a night life like I said before. Just a nice, peaceful, warm place that has nice scenery.

There is a Seneca-Cayuga casino outside of Grove. There is a hospital there and my son was born there.

Hunts, are they a band from the Cherokee or is it a different tribe? Do you live there and would you know about what the current population is? I understand it's growing fast.

I purchased a lake home in Delaware County about 20 some miles south of Grove. I have to rent it out until I retire from teaching in Florida. I can tell you that Grove is on the brink of some real development. Lot's of people are coming in. It will be a major retirement center in that part of the country. The medical facilities are expanding. Grand Lake is absolutely beautiful and very large. I am on the south end where the water is deeper and clearer. I cannot think of a finer place and I have looked at most of them for retirement. Prices are still reasonable and taxes low. But do not delay because I hear people from California, Colorado, and Texas have discovered the area. Starbucks is not far behind. But it will never become as big as Branson in the foreseeable future.

We are looking at homes in jay and grove. Actually we just made an offer on one. Not liking some of the local mortgage Co.'s though. No service, no responses, can't even get them on the phone... What real estate agency are you with?

Kurt, I was surprised to see your post. You're moving out of Fla. to OK? Those are the two states that we've been thinking about. Fla. is beautiful and always warm so why are you leaving? I've been reading so much about the high cost of living in Fla. and that's scary. We have family in Fla. which is also a big drawing card for us. Eastern OK is absolutely beautiful though, isn't it?

RBH, I'm so glad that Grove is the place for you. I know you were asking Kurt about the realtors, but all I did was go to an internet site and look at places. I had to sign up in order to get any info and get an email from a realtor every few days. It seems there are plenty of them down there just like all over.

Try the Re/Max office in Grove, I'm dealing with Jeff Savage there, and he is great! Has done more than we could have asked of him, and is never out of contact.
We actually got our counter offer already have settled the minor details and will be closing before Christmas! The man hasn't taken a day off since I met him and covers every area all the way around the lake and a whole lot further out.

Good luck all!!! Tell him RBH Automotive sent ya!!!

OMG RBH, that's the same person who contacted us when we checked condos on the internet. He does sound like he's a really nice person and he's not the type to constantly bother you.
