I heard a boom around 2 AM this morning and something fell off a shelf, but, I didn't "feel" anything. My neighbors said it woke them up! We are in Yukon. I was at the neighbors house tonight when we all felt the 11:00 PM one, but, my son, next door at our house said he didn't feel anything, but some dishes moved around. I don't understand why we don't feel it in our house, but, people around us feel it in their houses?

News from The Associated Press (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_EARTHQUAKE_OKLAHOMA?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLA TE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-11-06-00-48-39 - broken link)

The U.S. Geological Survey reported from Golden, Colo., on its website that it monitored a 5.6 magnitude quake at 10:53 p.m. local time Saturday and said it was centered about 44 miles east-northeast of Oklahoma City. It had initially reported the temblor as a 5.2 magnitude quake.

If the intensity of the Saturday night quake is confirmed, it would be the state's strongest on record. USGS records show that a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck El Reno, just west of Oklahoma City, in 1952 and, before Oklahoma became a state in 1907, a quake of similar magnitude 5.5 struck in northeastern Indian Territory in 1882.

The Saturday night quake was felt as far away as Tennessee and Wisconsin, according to reports received by the USGS.

This 5.6 quake was only a tad over 5ft. deep. The more shallow the quake, the more potential damage and I "think" that it can be felt over a wider area when it's a really shallow quake.

I sure hope to hear from more of y'all that are near it, felt it, or know folks that did. I hope no one has damage that causes them any problems, and I pray that this doesn't hint at an awakening of the New Madrid!

We have the largest sunspot that our sun's had in years, coming around the bend, and going to be pointed at earth in a few days. That energy, if a large flare or two comes towards us, I am concerned can cause quakes. Praying it is not so, this next week.

it was 5 KM deep actually. However thats still very shallow.
The Japan Earthquake at a Magnitude of 9 was like 10 miles deep or something like that.

I didn't realize what I was feeling during one yesterday morning (2:00 amish). I was sound asleep and woke up around that time, but was so groggy I didn't realize what was going on. I just got a drink and went back to bed. The one last night we definitely felt. We were upstairs and the house was really shaking and popping. Some really loud rumbling too. I heard something falling, but could never find anything out of place. Probably something falling off a shelf in one of my kids closets, but who could tell! LOL.

Forgot to add, I got a text right after from one of my sons, who's in college in AR. He felt it there. He said he thought he was losing his mind until he looked it up and discovered it was real. Other son was in Norman, in a bar, got a text from him too, he said they could feel it.

I was right. This latest aftershock has been revised from 5.2 to 5.6 for the strongest earthquake in Oklahoma history, if it holds. They're the first earthquakes I've ever felt.
With the wind blowing, I didn't immediately identify the first one as a quake, which is odd since I lived in socal all my life and should have. But maybe it was the booms and the slip. The aftershock last night was *instantly* a quake. That was pretty long too.

Worse I ever felt was the Northridge quake, even if we were three huge counties away. I was sitting at my computer then, big moninor in front of me, hunkered down and holding the monitor as it swayed. We didn't get most of the aftershocks, but my cousin lifed a quarter mile from the epicenter and they didn't even get their house inspected for a month.

I'm glad I have followed my policy of NEVER putting something tall against a wall, especially with things to fall off, unless attached firmly to the wall so it can't fall on you and nothing on the wall above your sleeping area.

My sil who moved here maybe a month ago was surprised at earthquakes. Funny part was she had been watching Earthquake on tv just before the quake hit. Such timing.

When I turned on the tv last night to see what they had to say about the quake it was like dejavu to socal, except no Lucy from Caltech. If its an earthquake you had to have her.

First one, all the critters went nutso just before. Second one none reacted first.

There have 3.0-4.0 aftershocks all day today. About 1 every hour.

I've felt a couple of them, but really heard them more than anything. Sounds like a big truck rumbling down the street, but there's not one anywhere around.
