Default Prague Earthquake

Incase you weren't awaken at 2:15am this morning there was a 4.7 magnitude earthquake about 6 miles north of Prague. It woke me up here in SW Logan county. Sounded like a train or thunder rolling through... crazy stuff.

I just read an article that there was one earth quake and 2 aftershocks roused people as far way as Kansas City. Well, I'm sitting in southern Kansas City and I didn't notice anything.

I definitely felt my first earthquake. It was strange. The groaning noise from the walls of my house was most noticeable. I wondered if a sudden big gust of wind had come up. It lasted not quite 10 seconds. The shaking sensation was only slight.

It was odd. It sounded like something was banging on the house. I realized the table was shaking. If I'd been in California I would have thought earthquake but still not used to the idea of them here.

I know I heard the boom before it started, and all the critters went banannas just before that.

I'll probably recognize it as a quake next one.

What is odd is that friends of ours in West Tulsa felt it but we in Terlton didn't notice a thing. Weird.

A good rumble here in Piedmont too.. At first I thought the wind had come up but then discovered the sound was coming throughout the house, then I felt a little shaking. Lasted about 30 seconds. This may have been the top strongest quake I've ever felt even surpassing a quake I felt in Hawaii back in '01. Latest initial magnitude was 5.6 which I hold suspect, think more realistically it could have been closer to a 5. I'm sure aftershocks will follow. This is pretty strange!

I certainly felt it again in Stillwater and it seemed somewhat stronger than the first one. I guess it lasted about 10 seconds. This one came with some rumbling noise, like thunder in the distance.

I was right. This latest aftershock has been revised from 5.2 to 5.6 for the strongest earthquake in Oklahoma history, if it holds. They're the first earthquakes I've ever felt.
