Default Poteau homeschoolers

Are there any homeschoolers out there in the Poteau area? We have a son with a physical problem so we decided to homeschool him instead of attending the public school system. If we can move to Poteau, we would love to be aware of any other homeschoolers in the area. Thanks.

You may want to call the schools and see if they can give you a list. Maybe that wouldn't be allowed. Hope someone can help you. I know we have them in Tahlequah, and someone at the library seems to know who they all are-probably because she home schools. So maybe you can call around.

Hi Igloo

My daughter is now graduated but homeschooling ability was a must for us when we were choosing where to relocate 5 years ago. One of the reasons we moved to this area (I live in Heavener and work in Poteau) was that Oklahoma's homeschool laws are extreamly user friendly. I know that there's a LeFlore County homeschool group that puts on local text book swaps and such here throughout each year. I've been out of the loop for a few years now but you can get up to date information if you Google Oklahoma Homeschool (search with one word spelling and also with it in two words). I think there's a Oklahoma homeschool Yahoo Group that you can join too. It was very active when I was on it and the people there are very helpful.

I think you'll find that you are not as much a minority as one might think.

Good Luck!
