Default Tahlequah or Sallisaw or Stilwell or Vian

I have found homes to buy in these 4 areas and more. I am wondering what people think of Sallisaw and Stilwell? Are they pretty? Stilwell seems too far away from everything, but Sallisaw is close to Ft. Smith and is on the freeway, but I wouldn't buy in town. Any thoughts?

I live in Sallisaw in town. I have lived in the country but at the time it was too far out for me. I feel you can have your country and peace while still in the city limits. Its a nice town and with friendly people. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know. NoSugar

Lots of rundown places in Stilwell but some nicer areas as well. People go to Fayettevill, Arkansas quite a bit. It's not too far from there.

I think Tahlequah is the nicest of the towns you mention. The university makes it a little more happening, but it's still small townish. Quite pretty too.

Default Towns???

jessaka,

Stilwell is not too far from Arkansas and not that far from Sallisaw either. if you have small children check the schools out really well. expecially is you have one with special needs. Otherwise sports is the ticket around here and hunting. But most folks I know around Stilwell go to arkansas more than Oklahoma.

Well, we made our decision as soon as we saw Tahlequah. We looked at country homes and decided that at our age it would be best to live in the city of Tahlequah. So we bought a home there. Thanks though for all of your posts. Griffis, when summer rolls around again, I will be on this website complaining of the heat. Ha.

You know I didn't care for the red soil that you talked about. Just not used to seeing red, made me think of Christmas with the green grass like a tree and the red soil like red bulbs. Glad that east OK was not red, but I could have gotten used to it. We even thought that the other parts of OK were not ugly since they had trees.

But thank you for steering me towards Tahlequah.

Sallisaw is my choice between Vian or Stillwell. There is more here. Lots of homes in the country for sale and in different price ranges.

Stillwell and Sallisaw are not places I would even consider living, much less visit again. But I like Vian, even though there wasn't much of a town.

Im just wondering why you wouldn't want to live in these two areas? No reason other than Im planning a move to Oklahoma and trying to decide which towns I want to look in...Are they larger than Vian? Thanks..

They say that Stillwell is filled with drugs, and Stillwell and Sallisaw are really ugly.
Vian is more country like to me, and I liked Vian. Not much in the way of stores there though.
