I like your pics anyway. I like the one with the trees reflecting on the lake and the one with the geese.

I like the point of land with the banks that appear to be washing away. I do see more beach here than on Grand Lake--course there is really no beach to speak of there. I think we have rediscovered a really neat place. The Great Lake of Oklahoma--Big Eufaula

Now, I have got to go and see it for myself. Looks like my Christmas break will see me in Northeast Oklahoma if all goes well. Hope we don't have any ice storms, then. A possible tropical storm is brewing down by Tampa and may head up to my little home in Pensacola. Keep us in your prayers. We sure don't need another big blow as we are just recovered from two hurricanes in the past 3 years.

Just talked to a friend on Grand Lake. The sky was deep blue and the sun shinning. The water was colored like turquoise--and humidity down. Best time to be out there. Too bad I ain't retired yet.

Default Scenic overlook and Longtown Estates

Leaving the town of Eufaula and traveling east (south really) on highway 9, there is a turnout when you first see the lake. These next shots were all taken from the scenic turnout.

That strip of land with the road on it is highway 69 south of Eufaula. I would guess the road across the lake is 2 1/2 to 3 miles long here.

It hasn't been easy keeping up with mowing/trimming this year.

That sign marks the city limits of Eufaula.

This is the nicest housing development I was able to get into today. If you want something more upscale, I am sure you can find it. This is right off highway 9.

There is a boat dock in the center of the picture, obscured by trees.

Those logs are cleanup from flood/ice storm. You can see some ice storm damage in the tops of the trees.

Next stop, highway 9 landing campground.

Default Views from Highway 9 Landing

Here are some photos I took at Highway 9 Landing on the north side of Highway 9. Please keep in mind that these photos were taken on a Thursday in September, so in the summer there would be a lot more cars/boats/people around. This was not a very clear day, so some of the photos are misty.

This is a public campground.

This is a view to the west, but these houses and docks are on the other side of highway 9 than Longtown Estates.

Public beach.

Another view to the west toward Longtown.

Highway 9 going back to Longtown. Those are some Longtown Estates houses in the backgroung.

Another view to the west. I will call this north Longtown.

Ditto.

This is looking north. I don't know where the houses are that go with these docks. I think some people have taken their boats out of the water for the winter already.

On the public beach. If you can't swim, then use a life jacket.

Here is a water sample I scooped up at the water's edge on the public beach. The water has a little tint to it but I think it is pretty clear.

Still at the public beach.

Another western view.

That's enough for one post. Next up are campground photos and across Highway 9 to the south side of Highway 9 Landing.

Thumbs up Fantastic Pictures! Way to go, Peggyd!

You have surpassed all my expectations. I see docks and great beach. The water looks good, too. I will definitely check it all out when I get out there again, this Christmas. We are bracing for a mild tropical storm here in Pensacola, but don't trust these things ever--they can flare up on a moment's notice. Thanks, again.

Nice photos Peggy.

Rustbucket, I posted a thread that is at the top of all of these threads on how to post photos. It will show you how to post them so they won't be thumbnails, that is, if you want to do so. It took me a while to learn.
