Casinos in oklahoma
How are the casinos in the maimi oklahoma area? Any information would be great? I have hear good and bad about winstar and the cherokee casino by tulsa. My husband and I are looking for a nice area to live in. Tunica is 30 minutes south of Memphis, and the crime rate is crazy there.

As a dealer, you should understand that games in Oklahoma casinos are not necessarily Vegas style, like they are in Tunica. You might find after a short amount of time that you've become a bingo caller rather than a dealer. Also consider that the casinos are not privately owned, but owned by Native American tribes and so have certain hiring procedures that require them to hire a certain percentage of Native Americans.
I don't know how much you know about this type of casino, whether you've done any homework, and I have no idea about anything in the Miami area, which is a little more than an hour from Tulsa and probably three to four hours from Oklahoma City. The Cherokee Casino in Tulsa is fairly impressive, for what it is. However, that area of town may have as serious a crime problem as Tunica.
You'll find more casinos as you come further into the state. If you're looking for a nice town, small, but very close to Tulsa, there is a decent casino called the Million Dollar Elm in a town of 20,000 called Sand Springs, which is a suburb of Tulsa. http://www.milliondollarelm.com/ for more info on it.

Million Dollar Elm is nice on the inside but is little more than a metal building. Cherokee is a full casino, hotel, and they are starting on a 1400spot parking garage. Creek Casino is working on a multimillion dollar project on the river.
The Cherokee location itself isn't high crime but that location was basically a truck stop before. You would also be looking at about a 15-20minute drive for a decent place to live. About 5-10 minutes from million dollar elm and even shorter from creek.
The tribes know where the money is so they will spend most of their money on casinos near major cities.

Bartlesville has one opening up Feb 8th with, I think, two restaurants in it or one restaurant and one snack bar?? We drove out to it the other day just to see it. It's really off the beaten path and hard to find. I'd be surprised if the don't put a hotel there sometime however.
I guess they are hiring now. I must also say I know absolutely nothing about casinos as I've only been in one but I could find out info if people will tell me what to ask, or maybe I could find the contact info. I think it's the Osage Indian casino.

i live in OKC and we have a few casinos around us, i really like going to Riverwind (Norman), Firelake (Shawnee), and Remington Park (OKC), which doesnt say much about what it would like to work there, but they are large and nice casinos. i think riverwind is the newest and biggest in OK according to their website??

yes, it's another Osage Nation casino.
The best by far, IMHO, is the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa. I know for a fact they are offering some decent card games. Anything away from the metro areas are more than likely going to be a glorified bingo hall.
