This would be a bush or shrub. This is a typical large pink crepe myrtle.
![]() Here is one of the new darker colors, except I remember this as being more of a true red. ![]() |

Thanks, Peggy, I can always count on you. They look very pretty. I've never seen them before, they must be indigenous to your section of the country.

I think they are grown throughout the south. They do love the heat of summer. The improved varieties are very trouble free.

I had several of those gorgeous, pink crepe myrtles on my land in North Carolina. The red ones in your picture are stunning!.

I like the red ones too, and I am going to try to find some like that. It is that time of year again, thinking of spring planting.

Thinking of spring planting at this time of year? I can only think, Put another log on the fire."

I'm going to start a few tomato seeds growing inside next week. But, we will need to keep throwing those logs on the fire for a while.

Redbird, that picture makes me feel all warm, like we are in the heat of summer. Come to think of it, this cold weather isn't all that bad.
I like the crepe myrtles because they bloom when everything else is wilting from the summer heat. Those red ones are what I am going to plant. |

The neighbors horses are in our pasture again.
Last year we went round and round with him. He just doesn't want to fix the fence. Correct me if I am wrong but, in OKLAHOMA: -Fences should be maintained to keep livestock IN. -After notifying the owner of livestock in our pasture, 30 days they can be rounded up and taken to the sale barn. Guess my neigborliness has worn thin. But don't worry, it will never get to the point of me sending them to the glue factory. I just wish the owner would take responsibility. |
