I just got around to looking through this thread. I still haven't made it through many others. Thanks guys. These pix sure make it hard for me living "boxed in" so to speak. I've absolutely love to be able to sit on a front porch, without cars driving by constantly.

The wide open spaces are nice, but it is a long way to the store.

I've often thought of that Peggy. I always thought I would love to live "way out" with just the sound of the crickets, birds, etc. Sounds romantic, but in reality, we're all so used to having "things" close by that it may not be as wonderful as it sounds. I'm not much of a shopper, and could actually live very nicely without a mall (especially since I mostly order online), but I do like the convenience of not driving miles for milk, prescriptions, banking, etc.

I could live without ANY of those things...
But I DO need to live near work...
At least until I'm old enough to retire.
(My son's mileage may vary... He likes being near all that stuff.)

Funny, my son's like that too. Loves to go to the mall. Yet my daughter could live nicely without one.

North of Holdenville. This is my idea of the american dream. I suppose folks in large cities would think this is too far from civilization.

Cross your fingers and hope they do! It would be a sin for places like this to be overrun by hordes looking for 'peace and quiet.'

That is such an attractive house, Redbird. It just looks like a happy place to live doesn't it.

I live 6 miles from the closest convenience store, half of that dirt road. It could be a gravel road but the county seems to be short of money all the time. If I drive 10 miles, I can go to a small grocery store or our cute little WalMart. But, the peace and quiet is priceless.

I can't foresee ever being overrun by hordes of city folk in our part of OK. NE OK is in more danger of that.
