All I know about Alva is it's a small town in northern Oklahoma. I don't know where anyone get's the idea it's in the west. It's only about 15 miles from Kansas.

It's Alva, not Alava. That's probably why you can't get it to come up on Google.

I lived there for about... six years, its nothing worth talking about really. Taco Village is the best. . And theres a DQ there, but other than that.. there's really nothing there. |

yes alva is a small town, but its a nice town.pop around 5000 with a regional university, nwosu.home to bill johnson correctional center.
alva is building a top notch recreation center, with basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball fields.alva also has the largest municipal swimming pool in the state. currently the city is expanding and remodeling the city owned hospital,8 million dollar addition.also will soon be expanding the runway at the airport. major events in alva are nwosu homecoming, car show, festival of flight air show, nwosu college rodeo. draw backs about alva.resturants,shopping. |

If you can't get any info on it, then you must be mispelling it or something. I typed in "Alva, Ok" on google, hit the return key, and came up with the following info within 5 seconds:
The city of Alva's website: http://www.alvaok.org/ From CityData's own website: http://www.city-data.com/city/Alva-Oklahoma.html NWSU (Northwestern Oklahoma State University): http://www.nwosu.edu/ Alva, Oklahoma on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alva,_Oklahoma Alva City Application (for employment): http://www.nwosu.edu/recruit/admis.pdf Webshots pictures from Alva and a recent snowstorm: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/556126412gNZBBL That's not the end of the list either. Also, if you want to zoom in and out while on google maps (maps.google.com), just use the roller on your mouse. Rolling it back and forth will zoom in and out and you don't have to use that pesky little zoom bar on the computer screen. |

Alva is an old wheat and oil town. The college is about all that there is there. IT has the most extreme weather in Oklahoma besides maybe the Panhandle. It's a good three hours from OKC and Tulsa but is about 75 minutes from Wichita. Supposedly a good place for kids but it is mostly old farmers and college students there.
