You described that well Ponderosa! We didn't get the feeling of distaste or disgust, just a little attention for standing out from the crowd we were in. Everyone was very friendly when it came to service and the friendliness was genuine.

I lived in Tahlequah off-and-on for over 12 years and I still miss it. (I live in the flat, windy, dusty, ugly part of Oklahoma now, unfortunately.) It has its problems, certainly--what place doesn't?--but overall it's a very open, relaxed, progressive town, thanks largely to NSU. For my money, the best towns in OK to live in would be Norman, Stillwater, and Tahlequah---better even than OKC or Tulsa. The big cities offer better restaurants and more places to shop, but the university towns offer a better, more diverse cultural mix.

Are you listening to Don Stinson ComputerGuy? He is correct.

I never argued that Tahlequah wasn't good...
But I reiterate... Overall, it's out of my price range at the moment compared to other options we've looked at... ![]() You're talking to a guy who lives in the White Mountain / Great North Woods region of NH... I love greenery AND mountains.... (Make NO mistake.) But I also like being debt-free and having LOTS of work opportunities nearby. ![]() M. |

Yel, you can do that. I waited all my life to own a home and live in the ozarks, since the age of 12 when I first began reading nonfiction books on mountain people and the ozarks. I had to wait until I retired, but wait! Don't sell yourself short. Visualize it and you may get here sooner than it took me. Muskogee can give you work opportunities.

I have posted on Pryor and Hudson lake before. It is just south of Grand Lake and much cheaper than that resort area. But it is closer to jobs there. That area is growing with retirees, etc. Pryor has lots of jobs. Google is the latest to come to town.
Spavinaw and Eucha are even closer to Grand Lake and possible jobs. Beautiful hills and woods with springs and streams--and very cheap to live in. Come on down and check it out! I am from Northern Minnesota--birch trees and maples with granite outcroppings--just like New Hampshire! But also too coooold! Come on down, pal! |

I like Pryor Creek a lot. In fact, in a few weeks I will start teaching at the appraisal school there several times a month.

Pryor starts at $58K for 3 BRs... Spavinaw & Eucha start too high for 3 BRs Hudson Lake & Grand Lake didn't show up in the listings... Our goal is to buy for cash below $30K... None of those seem to work.... But thanks anyway... ![]() M. |
