I went to the Thompson House bake sale here in Tahlequah. The Thompson House is a Victorian house once owned by the Thompsons. They had it all decorated and filled with special gifts and baked goods. I bought some bars, and I am sure that this is the recipe:

Chocolate Oatmeal Bars

1 1/2 cups butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick cooking oats
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup semisweet chocolate
chips
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 inch square baking pan. To prepare Filling: In a heavy pot, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter and chocolate chips. Add the evaporated milk and 1/4 cup of the white sugar. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts and cool. To prepare cookie base: Cream 1 1/2 cups of the butter and the brown sugar together. Add the vanilla and the egg, and beat until light and fluffy. Add the flour, baking soda, and 1 3/4 cups of the oats and blend well. Press 2/3 of this mixture into the bottom of the greased pan. Spread the cooled filling on top of the cookie crust. Mix the remaining 1/4 cup of oats with the remainder of the cookie base, and crumble over the filling. Bake for 25-30 minutes

On another day I went to a Friends of the Library program, and a friend of mine brought this delicious dish:

Chocolate Cobbler

This cake makes it's own chocolate sauce. It's wonderful served warm with ice-cream.
6 servings
55 min 10 min prep

1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 1/3 cups hot water

In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and the 2TBS cocoa.
Stir in milk and oil until smooth.
Pour into a greased 8in square baking pan.
Combine brown sugar and the 1/4 cup cocoa.
Sprinkle over batter.
Pour hot water over the top (do not stir).

Bake at 350* for 45 minutes Serve with whipped cream.

1 box chopped broccoli cooked and drained well
1/2 stick oleo (margarine)
1 chopped onion
1 cup minute rice (uncooked)
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
3/4 cup of chez whiz
1/2 cup of milk

Saute onions in butter, mix rest of ingredients well and place in a 2 quart
casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

I am expected to make this evey Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone
loves it.
Excellent recipe. Thanks!

Well, here it is! I sprinkled a few bread crumbs on top before I put it in the oven. It wasn't in the recipe, but I thought it wouldn't hurt. Now, for the REAL test, to see how it tastes! mmmm, the bestest part...

Good job, Synopsis. I like the way it looks browned around the edges. Looks YUMMY!

A+ for you in cooking.
