HI ARKIES j/k
I guess we don't have anyone that knows Ardmore. I don't live there anymore but I will take a stab, and maybe someone will correct me. When I did live there, the working people were nice and were really down home country people. My son graduated from HS there 20 years ago, but the schools were good then. Maybe someone has something more recent?
Ardmore has a fairly good economy right now, with all the drilling. Look at the classified ads and you will see some employment ads for skilled workers. Look at the real estate for rent and you will see what the costs are. Hope this helps!

Ardmore is one of the few rural towns in Oklahoma that is growing. Being approximately 100 miles from both DT OKC and Dallas. The best of both worlds, that's about all I know about it though.

I pass through Ardmore on my way to OkC, which is just about all I know of the place. It is growing, and as Nameless said, halfway between OkC and Dallas. From all I know it's a decent place and it may offer what you like. I'd follow peggy's advice and do some research. Just curious, what is it that you hate about Arkansas? I'm not a huge fan of Little Rock, but I lived in Arkansas once and liked it. It's a beautiful state, but any state can have it's good and bad areas. Good luck, and if you move to Oklahoma, WELCOME!

Thank you
Thanks everyone
I will do just that do some more checking and lots of research. Moderator cut: (inappropriate) I have lived in arkansas for 25 yrs i came out here at age 14 and loved it, i have lived in texas and it was alright but the people there are rude. and i have also lived in oklahoma and loved it. my mothers family lives all around okie mostly around edmond, okc but i like ardmore. and yes arkansas is very beautiful but that doesn't make up for all the problems. up here in the northwest the drugs are also very bad. I just miss nice country people who care about eachother and not just of them selves. so please everyone don't take me as a rascist because i'm not, i'm just telling it like it is.
thanks
ps if anyone else comes across who is from ardmore let me

I don't think Ardmore is a poor town with lots of slums and crime but I don't live there so I could be wrong. It's an okay area. You have what they call the "Arbuckle Mountains" nearby but they really aren't mountains at all. They are pretty and within a 20 minute drive of Ardmore but it's not like Northwest Arkansas or Eastern Oklahoma/Western Arkansas. If I were looking for a medium sized town I would look no further than Tahlequah; it's a beautiful area and jessaka seems to like it there. She moved there from California last year. My hometown of Ada isn't bad either. Lots of employment there and it's a clean city in some rolling hills. Good luck, and I'm sorry to hear about your experience in Arkansas.

I lived close to Ardmore, out in the country in Love County. Ardmore is where we went to town. I did like it and the people there, but I left in 93 or 94 when the economy was really bad and NO jobs were available. I had to go back to OKC to get a job. I am back in the country now.
I have seen a lot of changes when I go back through the area. The economy is MUCH better now, like all over Oklahoma. My former home is now a fancy horse farm! Who knew? Lake Murray, Lake Texoma, Arbuckle Mountains and Turner Falls are close by. Dallas is getting bigger and bigger and I think that is having an effect on Southern Oklahoma.
I wouldn't say it is all that pretty there, but the scenery is pleasant. It is a normal Oklahoma town as far as crime, and poor people live in any place you go. It is hotter there than the rest of Oklahoma. People there say they are on the sunny side of the Arbuckles.
Like Synopsis said, Tahlequah is much prettier, and Ada is near where I live now and has good employment opportunities and a good quality of life, and better weather. There are a lot of good towns in Oklahoma. I would visit several and see if you like them. Good luck!

I like Ada very much. I live about 30 miles from there but we go there a lot because my DH's doctor is there, and we go there to shop. Ada has a university, East Central University, Winter Smith Park, and has the headquarters of the Chickasaw Nation, and has other industry as well. Ada has more young people than some small cities because of the university, and the restaurant selection is pretty good. The Chickasaws moved their headquarters to Ada some time ago and have several businesses in Ada. I think you could find work there. Ada is not that far from OKC, and I think the area is very pretty, rolling hills, farmland, quite a few trees.
Ada has nice people and is a down home type place. The Agri-Plex has quite a few ranch and farm type events. The downtown area is nice looking with a lot of businesses open and always seems busy. Ada is a quiet town though, or maybe peaceful would be a better word.
