Looks like Somerset was doing most of the leasing in Atoka County. They apparently have bowed to the heavy hands of the drillers and are moving or should I say, being forced out of the area all together. This will surely bring the bonus price down and shut down leasing in the area. I believe they are cowards for doing so and as mineral owners, we need to band together to insure fair bonuses in the future.

It will not "shut down" leasing in the area. You have to be careful not to be too greedy or you may end up with nothing. After all, it's a lease BONUS. The strategy of Somerset was to drive up lease bonuses to ridiculous prices so other companies would in turn buy them out to keep the prices fair.

David,
Let me rephrase my original post to state that my anger was meant to be directed at Somerset and not the drillers. Not only for bailing, but for promising certain levels of bonus. Then, when the leases are about to be signed, rescinding there commitment so they can make huge profits and leaving the mineral owners high and dry.
