It takes about 40 minutes to get to Muskogee and 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to Tulsa, Fayetteville, or Ft. Smith. Muskogee has a few more stores than we do, like Pet Co, Office Depot types. A very small mall with fewer items than most malls. I mean the Dillards is really limited. I do some shopping via catalog or amazon.com. I just don't want to drive in traffic to these cities even though traffic is nothing like San Diego where I drove all the time.

I do more and more shopping on the internet myself. It saves so much time and hassle, and the shipping costs are less than the gas to drive to the store usually.

Default ECU in Ada

ECU is building a new "CD Forum" activity center for me.

I want lots of room for when I unveil my pet "bigfoot" that I will soon capture outside of Calvin, OK with the help of my CD Forum okie friends... you know who you are!

My speech will include special thanks to peggy "don't scream and fall down like a girl" davis for acting as bigfoot bait with her george foreman grill.

Actually, it's at East Central University in Ada, OK.

Have you ever seen a fat bigfoot? They love the low fat foods cooked on my George Foreman grill, so they can stay lean and mean.

Nice Ada pictures, Redbird.

They do what teenagers do anywhere except they do it in pickups on dirt roads as opposed to cars in parks.

Default Raised in Ada and turned out OK.

I was born at Valley View hospital and lived in Ada for 25 years until I relocated to Logan, UT - - -which is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I have often said that I wish the folks from Ada could all be put here in Logan and then I would have the best of both worlds. I had a wonderful time growing up in Ada, but when I look back, I think it was becuase all of my family lived there in the area. With this being said, I grew up there and now have raised my kids somplace else. I know there seems to be a lot of drugs there and a lot of teen partiers, which may be associated with all of the wonderful back roads. Have you listened to country songs about life in a small town and red dirt roads, this is Ada. Get your boys involved in sports or other activities and they will be fine. I don't particulary like the town, but the people are down home and friendly. I was a graduate of ECU and got a good education there, which led me to other opportunities in life. Your boys will probably make some good friends there.

As you know, moving teenagers can be somewhat tricky, make sure they get in with a good crowd and you will be fine. Ada high seems to be a good school if your boys like football. Byng High school is okay if your boys like basketball. Latta is not bad either. There are good kids and kids that have made some bad choices at all of the high schools. Ask me if you need anything else.

Malachi Jones is on a distinguished road
I grew up near Tulsa (in Broken Arrow), and went to ECU for four years. After graduation in 2000 I moved away to raise a family and live closer to relatives. I never liked Ada. It kinda sucked the life out of me. But, it made me appreciate other cities and life elsewhere much more. My wife and I have been back to Ada twice; once for a friend's graduation and once just 'cuz in 2008.

On our second visit we stopped by the Wal-Mart, and some of the old college hang outs. We always go to a Wal-Mart, Costco, or Target shopping center in every town we visit to get a general view of the town folk. I'm sure Ada looks just about the same as it always did when I went to school there, but it seems much dirtier and uglier than I remember it. About the only nice places in town was the shopping mall and movie theater, and the college campus.

On the way out of town we stopped by a convenience store so my son could use the restroom. (BTW, turnpike rest areas in Oklahoma DO NOT have restrooms, and we PAY for these roads with tolls!). The clerk told me that I had to buy something in order to use the restroom. So, I grabbed a soda pop, put it on the counter, and pulled out a credit card. That's when the clerk told me I would be charged another $1.25 just to use my credit card. That's when I remembered that many stores in Ada do not accept credit cards. Which is fine, because the good ol' boys in Ada mostly carry wads of cash.

I used to work at a local hardware store, and the company would only accept certain credit cards. But, most people carried cash, and we had a lot of cash in our registers. I guess if someone wanted to rob a place, a store in Ada would pay off nicely. But, I do not suggest robbing a store in Ada because most store owners, and citizens, are armed.

I had to take a long bath after leaving town, just to wash the heebie-jeebies off. If you want to live po', do drugs, cheat others, and sleep around, then Ada is probably the best place to be.
