I understand what your saying. I moved to OK. from Calif, 6/07. and for many reason you have for liking where you live. plus the new immigration law.
I'm 73 mi. S of OKC. 30 mi SE of Lawton. in a small town with the same atmosphere as you discribed.

Grove and Stillwater and perhaps another town or two would beg to differ on that claim, though.

Default OKHome

We have lived in OK since '91 from Richmond, VA and like it very much.
We have a 3br 3.5bath cottage in a small town on Grand Lake which is a very popular vacation destination. It is FSBO at $129,900 and is approx 1900 sf in a lovely gated community. It comes with a 30' x 11' covered boat slip and many amenities such as clubhouse with pool, hot tub, sauna, racketball, exercise room, lawn maint, etc. Grove is a small town but they are planning to build a big hospital there anticipating future growth. It's about 1 1/2 hours from Tulsa, OK and about the same to Joplin,MO. Happy to email photos.

But city-data figures confirm that Stillwater and Grove have been growing faster in population than Durant and Tahlequah since 2000.

Thanks for the info Stillwater, whoever told me that Thalequah was the fastest was wrong. I am rather glad that it isn't the fastest since the only new stores we are getting is those ugly new modern bldgs with parking lots around them. OH, if I were only the god of Tahlequah, every bldg. would be so cute, whether modern or historical.

If Tahlequah were to grow that much, it would destroy it's charm. All the newer businesses anywhere always look so ugly. I guess it is because they build as cheaply as possible.
