Now this scares me. I feel the exact same way that the rest of you feel about illegals. Is it possible that we could all be happy in OK?
I urge you to go to the thread that was started by Ozarkstar. It will take you to the immigration forum where it's being discussed. I just added a new link there today concerning a community in your neighboring state. Looks like others hope to follow OK's lead.

lISTEN PEOPLE: California used to be a rich state! I used to volunteer at a homeless shelter in downtown San Ddiego, and do other outreach work, and to make a long story short, Every, and I mean every DHS, Medical, and other state offfice is FLOODED with undocumented illegals from Mexico.....Every, and I mean every free clinic is full of illegals..... You can't get a freakin' appt cuz of them... Over 60% of the population of California cannot speak, read, nor write English..... Drivers tests are given in Spanish, and If one of 'em hits yer car, you better pray they have insurance....These no-good, triflin' criminals have literally BANKRUPT CALIFORNIA!
My fellow Oklahomans, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS HAVE SINGLE-HANDEDLY BANKRUPT THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA!!!

Illegals in OK not really an issue
Oklahoma has probably one of the smallest illegal immigrant population out of any southern state. I think the figure is less than 75,000, more like 60,000. Which means 1% to 2.1% of the population is possibly illegal immigrants. Texas has the highest percentage of the population being illegal immigrants at 20%. California has 2.2 million illegal immigrants. So, I would rethink saying that OK has an immigration problem, but thankfully they decided to stop illegals from coming into the state before it DOES become a problem.

Yup, and that's exactly what states like Cali, Az., and Fla. should have done. They're just so worried about being "politically correct" and "embracing diversity" that they've let themselves be chased from their own home states.
I guess we can all learn from what happened in those states and prevent it from happening in ours.

They`re also afraid of offending Illegals by enforcing the Law.

Our thoughts exactly, you have to live in a state with a real problem to understand what it is really like. We still have so many friends in Ca that are pulling their hair out because of the problem (believe me, at our age we don't have much hair to pull out ) Also I talk with friends and relatives in AZ and even Or. I'll take the Ok problem anyday. NMnita

Your right,
In "1981" I moved to a small rural community in San Bernardino County made up of small farms and families with livestock. Most people were homeowners and taxpaying citizens. most of us attended the community Advisory meetings and Grange meeting.
Through the years I watch many friends and families move out and most of the livestock was replaced with fighting cocks and junk vehicles.
Some of the back yards and fields became filled with rundown house trailers for other Illegals to live in, and without sanitation.
I watched garages and barns be converted into Illegal housing.
Next to me was a Dairy farm which had been closed down. We all knew the owner who had moved to Conway, Missouri and still owned the property.
The refrigeration building was taken over by 4 families of Illegals.
The feed barn was stuccoed to make the outside look like a house and 3 more famillies of Illegal moved in there.
When I say "taken over" thats exactly what Illegals do. They find an empty building and claim squatters rights. Well kept front yards turned into dried up desert with piles of garbage.
The whole community has turned into a getto.
Don`t get me wrong, the were Legal Mexicans living in the community, but the Legals all took pride to their properties.
I`ve heard the question many times, "How can you tell they`re Illegal?". You live in So, Ca. and beleive me, you can tell the difference. They don`t hide it. And you "have" to fight for what`s yours.
For years I tried to live with it, but it just crawls all over you. It can`t be ignored.
Today only about 8 of the families I knew are left in this community. 2 other families are in the process of moving out. 1 is moving to Tennessee and the other to Montana.
Myself, for years I felt trapped in California with no way out. Finally a window of oppritunity opened and I grabbed it.
I was offered a job in Duncan, Oklahoma.
I cannot imagine with kind of a relief that will be when I arrive next month.
If I were anymore excited, I`d need a stunt double.
I envy anyone living in a state with a lower population of Illegal

You're right. Most of us have no idea what it's like to have to live around that and none of us want to find out. Hopefully we can keep the Midwest for just us legal citizens.
Wendy, GROVE??? What made you decide on Grove? We love it there, too.
