Your right. I enjoy being part of organizations, (as I was in Ca) like, TownHall meetings, I was a Grange Officer, I was elected by the community for a Project Area Committee(PAC). I help run a small Farmers Market/Swap Meet for the community.
I think I've mentioned this before,
I'm trying to tranfer my California State Grange membership to Oklahoma State. Granges have to do with Agriculture and Patrons of Husbandry, I'm very surprised that there are only 3 Granges in OK. (Big Cabin #156 , Bluejacket #353, Green Country Pomona #19)

Hey MK!

Are you quite sure I can't interest you in my place here in Northern NH?
That grange stuff is HUGE up here...

In fact, I never heard the word "grange" until I moved up here.

There's also a great need for guys like you who can fix tractors and yard equipment....

Up here, it would be WAY better to be you than me!

Exclamation Think about it really good.

Please do your homework on these areas. I have lived here in Oklahoma since 1991, moved here from Norco, California, when I was 15. I have never really ever been as happy as I was out there. However; the cost of living is sooo much cheaper here. Don't be fooled on the small town aspect and that it doesn't seem as violent for crimes. No true, though there are smaller towns/cities, crime is still very much alive. I have lived in Tulsa, Colcord, Shawnee, Broken Arrow, Leonard and now in Ponca City. I can tell you that the safest city was and still is Broken Arrow. I love that town, good schools and good police department. Lived there for 3 years, and the town is growing, so you would get more of a return out of real estate. Ponca city on the other hand is high crime area, I have only lived here a couple of months and have heard gun shots at night, had a drug bust two doors down last week, no kidding either, and we found a crack pipe in our back yard that someone threw there. We are planning on moving away from here, they have alot of child molesters here. You can view Preditors in any city/zip/state on nationalpreditordatabase.com to find more specifice information. Wish I would have checked that first. I have a son and there are 6 child violators within blocks from his school. Now, Tulsa and Broken Arrow both have laws in place that no one with a sex offender charge can live anywhere there is a school or park, something like 5miles. Leaves them no choice but to live somewhere else. As a mother in her 30's, please do your homework whenever you can.

I think the law is statewide about sex offenders and where they can legally live. For example, in the small town near me, there is no place they can live since everywhere in Holdenville is within 2000 feet of a public or private school.

I'm doubting there are six offenders within blocks of a school in Ponca City.

Broken Arrow isn't a "small town" and has sex offenders just like every other town. While I agree it is a nice place to live (it's actually rated in the top 5 safest places to live in the US) it's not right to mislead anyone. BA has a lot to offer a family and one of the best school systems in the nation. I currently live in BA. I believe the law says sex offenders cannot reside 2000 ft from a school in the whole state. If they live closer to you then you should bring this to the authorities attention. Might want to double check the distance but I know it's not 5 miles, I don't think it's even a mile.

AREAS of Ponca City are bad because a half-way house is there.....they have all of the people transitioning from prison to normal life....unfortunately not all inmates "reform".

Overall, Oklahoma is a very nice, peaceful and low crime area to live. It's too bad the above mentioned is all this person had to offer. I just made a post about Wagoner, OK...it was an add on to another post. you should check it out.

I don't think Stacy said that BA was a small town.
